Gavin Rossdale reveals the pool day he had with former neighbor Britney Spears and her kids

Gavin Rossdale opened up about spending time with Britney Spears when they used to be neighbors.

Okay, so you will NOT believe this! The frontman of Brush – the frontman, honestly – finally addressed what that pop star said about them almost going swimming together back when they were neighbors! I’ve been waiting for him to talk about it forever, and it’s just… everything. Seriously, the thought of those two even being near water together back then is sending me! I need all the details!

He discussed their history during an interview on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, revealing details about their interactions from the mid-2000s.

During a radio show, Evan Real brought up an old interview with Britney Spears. He recalled her unexpectedly mentioning she once swam with Gavin Rossdale and asked if the interviewee remembered that experience with Spears.

‘Of course,’ Rossdale, 60, responded. ‘How could you forget that?’ 

We lived next door to each other, so she often visited when our children were young. She was a very lively and interesting person, and we became good friends.

‘She was lovely. She was amazing. She’s a great swimmer,’ he added.

Britney Spears mentioned in 2015 that she used to live near Gavin Rossdale and his wife at the time, Gwen Stefani.

She shared in an interview with Australia’s The Project that she’d be thrilled to collaborate with Gwen Stefani, calling her ‘really cool’.

Britney Spears and I were neighbors in Los Angeles for a period of time. I even swam with her husband, which was a really neat experience.

Rossdale and Stefani were previously married for 13 years before their divorce in 2016.

The former couple share three sons: sons Kingston, 19, Zuma, 17, and Apollo, 12.

The No Doubt frontwoman, 56, has been married to Blake Shelton since 2021. 

Britney Spears was recently divorced from Kevin Federline, the father of her two sons, after a three-year marriage. She was single at the time.

In the same interview, Rossdale was also questioned about whether his children had ever played with Britney Spears’s sons, Sean Preston, who is 20, and Jayden James, 19.

‘Too busy chatting with Britney,’ he jokingly responded. 

Around the mid to late 2000s, Gavin Rossdale and his wife Stefani lived next door to Britney Spears in the exclusive gated community of The Summit in Beverly Hills.

Although they no longer live near each other, he consistently supported the singer, even publicly on social media, over the years.

In 2021, she posted a video of herself dancing to Bush’s song ‘Glycerine,’ and mentioned it was a favorite from her high school days.

He reposted her Instagram video and wrote back: ‘i love you – best video – sweetest words.’ 

In 2023, he again shared another post about Spears enjoying the same song. 

He shared that he woke up to Britney Spears dancing to the song ‘Glycerine,’ and posted about it to show his support for her while she’s going through a tough time, as she’d mentioned on Instagram.

Rossdale explained that he saw a post where she openly admitted to being skilled at concealing her struggles. She wrote that her Instagram feed didn’t accurately reflect her true feelings and that she often felt the need to downplay her sadness.

He also added that ‘everyone walks around wounded to some degree.’ 

He noted how powerful and important it is when someone with Britney Spears’ influence openly shares their honest emotions. This can genuinely inspire others to seek support, acknowledge their own difficulties, and start feeling better.
