Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Tops Netflix U.S. Charts Ahead of Jumanji 4

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a hugely popular actor with a string of blockbuster movies. He’s proven he can succeed in everything from action and comedy to animated family films. One of his most successful franchises is Jumanji, with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle currently being a big hit on streaming services.

As a huge movie buff, I was checking FlixPatrol and noticed something interesting: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is currently the top movie everyone’s watching on Netflix here in the US! It’s actually the second Jumanji film – the original with Robin Williams and Kirsten Dunst was a classic. This one came out much later, in 2017, over 20 years after the first, and it’s clearly still a hit!

Many Were Skeptical About a Jumanji Sequel

People have been expressing their frustration with the constant stream of reboots and sequels. With so few truly original movies and TV shows being made, it’s understandable that many fans were hesitant when a sequel to the 1995 film Jumanji was announced – they weren’t sure if it could live up to the original.

The first Jumanji film felt like a finished story, so a sequel seemed unnecessary to many fans who worried it would tarnish the original’s reputation. Fortunately, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle captured the magic and excitement of the first movie and broadened the world of Jumanji, paving the way for more films in the series.

Released in 2017, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was a major success in theaters. Even though some people doubted it, the film earned $962 million worldwide on a $90 million budget, making it one of the year’s biggest hits. Because of this success, another Jumanji movie is now coming out.

The Jumanji Sequel Will Debut Next to Other Highly Anticipated Movies

This is the third movie in the recent Jumanji series, and the fourth Jumanji film made overall. The movie features a star-studded cast including Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Awkwafina, Alex Wolff, Morgan Turner, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman, Danny DeVito, Rhys Darby, Bebe Neuwirth, and Lamorne Morris.

December 2026 promises to be a huge month for movie fans! Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are both scheduled to premiere on December 18th, and some are predicting the excitement could be similar to the ‘Barbenheimer’ event we saw earlier. Plus, a new Jumanji movie will follow just a week later on December 25th.

December promises a lot of new entertainment, with both movies and TV shows arriving. The first season of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone series will start streaming on HBO Max on December 25, 2026. This means the next Jumanji movie, whose title hasn’t been announced yet, will face some tough competition for viewers’ attention.

The popularity of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle on streaming shows that people still love the Jumanji series. It’s rare for a sequel to a classic film to do so well with both audiences and critics, but the new Jumanji movies have achieved that, and the latest installment could be a hit when it’s released in December.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is available on Netflix in the United States and selected countries.
