After 4-Year Wait, Zendaya’s 87% RT HBO Drama May End With Season 3: “Closure Is Coming”

Get ready, fans! The popular HBO drama might be wrapping up after its next, third season. Zendaya, the show’s star, hinted at this possibility while on The Drew Barrymore Show.

Zendaya hinted that Season 3 will likely be the last season of Euphoria when Drew Barrymore asked about its future. She reassured fans that the season will provide a sense of completion. The eight-episode season is set to premiere on HBO on April 12th, over four years after the previous season ended.

Euphoria Deals With Love, Loss, Sex, and Addiction

Sam Levinson created and is the primary writer for Euphoria. The show is inspired by an Israeli miniseries with the same name, originally created by Ron Leshem and Daphna Levin.

Zendaya stars as Rue Bennett, a teenager battling drug addiction, throughout the first two seasons of the series. The show centers on Rue’s journey to sobriety and self-discovery, alongside the lives of her fellow high school students in the fictional town of East Highland, California. The upcoming third season will continue to follow these characters as they navigate adulthood.

It’s not a shock that Euphoria will end with its third season. The show launched the careers of its young actors – stars like Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Austin Abrams, and Colman Domingo are all much more well-known now than they were when the series began in 2019. While HBO could potentially order another season, getting everyone’s schedules to work might not be worth the trouble.

Is Euphoria Season 4 a Possibility?

In January, HBO’s Casey Bloys explained that any continuation of the show depended on whether creator Sam Levinson wanted to continue telling stories in that world. Bloys shared that Levinson was wrapping up the third season and had devised a compelling way to advance the characters five years into the future, which he found very promising.

He added that they’ll be discussing the actor’s future plans, but right now, his priority is completing the third season and releasing it. When asked about potential cast changes, like replacing Zendaya or Jacob Elordi, Bloys said it wasn’t something he could comment on.

I really believe we need to understand what Sam’s hoping for, what he’s passionate about creating – whether it’s with the show or just in his life generally. Honestly, I’m not sure what his next move will be, so I’m looking forward to having a good talk with him about it.

HBO’s Francesca Orsi hinted that the current season of Euphoria will likely be its last. Speaking to Deadline, she said that while discussions have happened, the show is being treated as if it’s ending. She also promised a satisfying conclusion for all the characters and their storylines.

The third season of Euphoria will air on HBO from Apr. 12 to May 31, 2026.
