Shocking Oscar 2025 Snubs: Selena Gomez and Angelina Jolie Left Out!
The nominations for the Academy Awards were announced on Thursday morning.
Some very big names were left off the list that shocked fans.
In another phrase, it was Selena Gomez playing the part of a distraught wife of a Mexican drug lord, whose character reacts frantically when she thinks her husband has perished.
In my perspective as a lifestyle guide, it’s fascinating to note that instead of me being recognized for my role, my co-star, Zoe Saldana, received a nomination for her exceptional portrayal of a lawyer aiding a man in his transformation journey into a woman. Notably, the lead actress, Karla Sofía Gascón, also earned a nomination for her captivating performance.
Angelina Jolie was not nominated for playing opera singer Maria Callas in Maria.
Additionally, Stanley Tucci’s remarkable performance in Conclave was not given due recognition in the Best Supporting Actor category.

As a fervent admirer, let me rephrase it in a first-person narrative: I’m thrilled to share that President Donald Trump has expressed his ambition to elevate the glamorous world of Hollywood, aiming to make it even grander, more polished, and more robust. In an unusual yet intriguing move, he has handpicked Mel Gibson, Jon Voight, and Sylvester Stallone as his ‘Special Ambassadors.’ Their mission? To bring positive change and revitalization to the troubled heart of Tinseltown, Hollywood, California.
Last week, Trump declared through his online platform that these three individuals would serve as his informants within the movie industry.
He expressed that it would once more resemble the grandeur of Hollywood’s own glory days, similar to the United States of America, as he posted on Truth Social.
Speaking about it, I’ve experienced a significant chunk of the Golden Age of Hollywood, and over time, I’ve witnessed its gradual decline. Unfortunately, our current state is quite dismal. Few movies are produced here these days, but we have a promising new President coming into office who aims to revitalize Hollywood to its past glory. With his assistance, I believe we can bring about the necessary changes.
It’s not clear precisely what tasks the trio intend to undertake as they strive to revive production activities within the United States.
The Hollywood awards ceremonies almost completely stopped due to the persistent wildfires, which significantly affected both life and work in the Los Angeles region. Frequent announcements were made by Hollywood guilds and award-show organizing bodies, as the entertainment industry grappled with the crisis and its aftermath.
But as of now, here´s the dates of major upcoming awards shows, from the Oscars to the Grammys.

The immense devastation in Southern California swiftly dampened all joy and revelry, leaving the movie industry’s peak celebratory period subdued.
This decade, once again, the Oscars find themselves questioning whether to proceed amidst a movie industry that’s been hit hard at its core by ongoing challenges from the pandemic, labor disputes, and technological changes. The question is: Should the event continue as usual, and if so, what does it signify today?
The Oscars are still set to take place, but it’s clear that they will undergo changes due to the wildfires. Many of the traditional red-carpet festivities that usually occur leading up to the event may be significantly reduced or even canceled altogether. Given the devastation caused by the fires and the many people left homeless, there seems to be little enthusiasm for the typical celebratory events this season.
Attention has shifted towards what the Oscars could represent to a struggling Los Angeles in these times. Although their significance may have diminished before, they could now serve as a powerful symbol of resilience for this troubled film industry hub.

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of hosting a prestigious event, the 82nd Golden Globes. Two remarkable films, Brady Corbet’s postwar epic ‘The Brutalist’ and Jacques Audiard’s genre-shifting musical ‘Emilia Perez’, both in Spanish language, were crowned with top honors. I was deeply moved by the audacity and brilliance of these two productions.
2024’s highly anticipated film ‘The Brutalist’ was recognized as the top movie in the drama category, positioning it as a strong contender for the upcoming Academy Awards. This cinematic masterpiece, filmed using VistaVision technology and presented with an intermission, also garnered awards for best director (Corbet) and best actor (Adrien Brody). In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Corbet emphasized the importance of creative control for filmmakers, highlighting the need to have final say over their work.
‘Emilia Pérez’, the film, was victorious in several categories at the Oscars, boosting Netflix’s chances for the top prize. It won best movie in the comedy or musical category, best supporting actress for Zoe Saldaña, best song (‘El Mal’), and best non-English language film. The director, Audiard, allowed Karla Sofía Gascón, the transgender star of the film who portrays a Mexican drug lord who undergoes gender-affirming surgery, to address the audience on behalf of the movie.
The marquee event and capper of Hollywood´s awards season will proceed as scheduled on March 2.
The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, where the event is held, faced a temporary threat from the Sunset Fire. Luckily, the fire was swiftly put out. However, the film academy postponed the Scientific and Technical Awards, which were originally set for February 18 (a new date has yet to be announced). Additionally, they canceled the traditional nominees luncheon, a well-known social event known for its networking opportunities and ‘group photo.’
The Oscars will be broadcast live on ABC, hosted by Conan O´Brien.
Actors Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott will host the announcement.
Aside from my role as a cast member on ‘Saturday Night Live’, I also took on a supporting part in the hit movie ‘Wicked’ from last year. Interestingly, this film is even a potential nominee for an award.
As a fervent admirer, let me express that I am utterly captivated by the multitalented Sennott. In 2023, he not only shone as the star but also penned the script for the mesmerizing masterpiece known as ‘Bottoms.’ Moreover, in 2020, he stole the show and our hearts as the lead actor in the indie sensation, ‘Shiva Baby.’ Simply put, Sennott is a beacon of cinematic brilliance!
The nominations will be announced at 8:30 a.m. ET.
You can stream the show on Oscars.com, Oscars.org, as well as through the Academy’s social media channels. Additionally, it will be available to stream on ABC, Hulu, and Disney+.
