Alison Hammond revealed she lost 11 stone by changing how she thought about food – she realized she had a childlike approach to eating – and giving up the treats she loved.
The 51-year-old presenter of This Morning once weighed 30 stone. A warning about pre-diabetes motivated her to adopt a healthier way of living.
Alison started her health journey five years ago by working with a trainer and making changes to her diet to get back in shape.
I’ve been following her every move, and honestly, it’s amazing! After that initial transformation, she got into Reformer Pilates and boxing! She’s constantly posting workout updates on social media, and I live for it. It’s just so inspiring to see her dedication!
She recently told Radio Times about her healthier lifestyle. She’s been working with a personal trainer for five years, even when she wasn’t feeling her best. She used to have an unhealthy relationship with food, especially sweets like toffees, but now she limits herself to just a few each day.
We all get older, don’t we? It’s important to start prioritizing self-care. I’m trying to do that by using things like a speaker that plays calming music while I sleep, and a device to monitor my sleep patterns.
Alison decided to get healthy after learning she had pre-diabetes, meaning her blood sugar was elevated but not yet at diabetic levels.
She recently told Women’s Health that her mother’s Type 2 diabetes worried her, so when she was diagnosed as pre-diabetic, it was a real shock. She knew she needed to take it seriously and make lifestyle changes, which meant giving up sweets and fatty foods.
Alison has recently begun doing Reformer Pilates and circuit training to help maintain her weight, explaining that she’s chosen this approach instead of weight loss injections.
Alison recently shared how she’s been working to stay in shape after making some healthy changes to her lifestyle.
Alison revealed that she has started the form of Pilates because she is as ‘stiff as a board’.
She explained that it leaves you feeling amazing. She’s been really enjoying Reformer Pilates because she’s been needing to stretch and it’s been a great way to do that.
I also start my day with a tough workout class led by Steve Hensel at Blue Zone. I head there at 6:30 am and spend a full hour in what feels like a classic, no-frills gym.
Alison feels great after a tough workout, and she’s usually up for trying new wellness trends, but there’s one thing she definitely won’t do.
Let me tell you, I’m all about wellness, but some trends just aren’t for me! I recently tried a cold plunge pool, and honestly? It was a disaster. I lasted maybe a minute before I started questioning my life choices. Seriously, who willingly does that to themselves? It felt like I was actively trying to freeze! Definitely not a habit I’ll be picking up anytime soon.
Reformer Pilates, a workout favored by celebrities like Meghan Markle and Jennifer Aniston, is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. A typical 45-minute class costs between £25 and £40.
Alison shared how she lost weight without using weight-loss injections, explaining her workout routine with her trainer.
She shared with Heat magazine that she works with a fantastic personal trainer, but only when her schedule allows. If she’s busy with work, she’ll skip her workouts and just go for a walk instead.
Alison explained that she’ll also fit in hour-long sessions with her trainer at home, potentially up to four days a week.
She explained that she doesn’t restrict any foods, instead prioritizing balance in her diet. She emphasized that she enjoys everything she eats, but always in reasonable amounts.
Alison recently shared a video on Instagram of herself having a tough boxing workout.
She showed off her fitter figure wearing a black workout outfit during a private training session.
Showing off her padwork skills, Alison completed her workout look with chunky black trainers.
Alison fully immersed herself in the energetic workout, enthusiastically hitting the punching pads and moving powerfully around the room, showcasing her skill with padwork.
She wrote with the post, ‘Yes! See you next week, @themccannic!’ and included a flame and boxing glove emoji.
Alison had previously said she wasn’t interested in weight loss injections, choosing not to use them because she was worried about negative stories she’d heard.
She shared with Good Housekeeping UK that while she believes safety devices are helpful for those who need them, she personally gets scared whenever she hears about incidents involving them.
The presenter explained they hadn’t used those options yet, but weren’t ruling them out for the future, and wouldn’t judge anyone else for using them.
As a lifestyle expert, people always ask me how I maintain a healthy weight, especially when my work—like being on The Great British Bake Off—is literally surrounded by delicious treats! I recently shared my tips with the Daily Mail, focusing on how I balance indulgence with staying fit.
I sneak a taste of the cakes Paul and Prue have judged, but only the really good ones! I only try the bakes that Paul gave a handshake to, or the ones that actually won. If the judges don’t like it, I don’t bother.
