Elden Henson, who played Foggy Nelson, recently shared his unexpected feelings about his character’s fate in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.
The Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again is a continuation of the popular Netflix show that originally aired from 2015 to 2018. It follows Daredevil as he battles the villainous Wilson Fisk, or Kingpin. The new series keeps the gritty and realistic feel of the original Daredevil while also showing Matt Murdock’s efforts to manage his life as a lawyer and a masked crime fighter.
The death of a key character in the first season of Disney+’s Daredevil: Born Again had a significant impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Killing off Foggy Nelson early in the series dramatically changed Matt Murdock’s story and sparked strong reactions from fans and the cast. While many were upset by the loss, actor Elden Henson had a different reaction when he first read the script.
At a C2E2 2026 panel, Henson surprisingly admitted he found a strange sense of satisfaction in the show’s tragic events, praising the quality of the writing. While disappointed by his brief run on Daredevil: Born Again, he was grateful for the chance to play the beloved character and glad that both his character and Foggy Nelson were given a proper conclusion.
I really enjoyed that scene when I read it – I was completely engaged. It’s always sad when a story ends, but I felt fortunate to have played the character, and I’m glad we got a sense of resolution.
Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, was deeply saddened by Elden Henson’s departure. He wasn’t just upset about losing a close colleague and friend, but also missed seeing Henson daily on set, even calling the experience “traumatic.” Cox emphasized how vital the friendship between Foggy and Matt Murdock is, both in the original comics and the show, and believes it’s one of the most meaningful relationships in the entire Marvel universe.
I haven’t read many comics besides Daredevil, but the friendship between Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson is one of the most genuine and heartwarming I’ve ever seen. Losing both Foggy in the story and my friend and co-star Elden on set was deeply upsetting and difficult to cope with.
As a fan, it’s wild to see how split everyone is about Foggy’s death! Some people think it was a really brave move that’s going to make things way more intense, and I can kind of see that. But honestly, it feels like a huge loss – Foggy always brought such a comforting and grounding presence to the show. No matter how you feel about it, though, it’s definitely got everyone talking, and it’s clear Daredevil: Born Again is going to be a big deal in the MCU for a long time.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 airs new episodes on Tuesdays on Disney+.
