For a long time, Avengers: Infinity War was considered the perfect example of a Marvel team-up movie. A big part of its success was bringing together characters fans never expected to see interact. Now, Avengers: Doomsday is coming to theaters on December 18th, and it appears the Russo Brothers are planning something similar – a surprising combination of heroes.
Lewis Pullman, known for his role as Bob Reynolds/Sentry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and previously recognized for his performance in Thunderbolts, suggested that this relationship will be explored further when the Avengers team up. In an interview with Esquire, he hinted that fans will finally see what they’ve been hoping for.
We’re seeing some really great collaborations, and fans are going to love them. It’s fun to imagine who might team up next – like, what if A and B worked together, or B and D? It’s exciting when those dream pairings actually happen.
The premise seems incredible, but the confirmed actors reveal that Doomsday could deliver some truly unique and captivating on-screen partnerships we haven’t seen before.

The movie will feature six main groups of characters: the Fantastic Four, the Wakandan Warriors, the Avengers, a new team called the Thunderbolts, the X-Men, and Doctor Doom.
The Avengers are assembling a unique team! Sam Wilson is now Captain America, leading alongside familiar faces like Thor and Loki, as well as newer heroes like Ant-Man and Shang-Chi. Joaquin Torres will also join as the new Falcon. The established, often complicated relationship between Thor and Loki will be back, and it will be fascinating to see how that plays out with Sam Wilson still getting used to being Captain America.
The new Avengers team – featuring characters like Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, US Agent, and Ghost – operates very differently from the original group. This creates interesting tension as these two distinct teams must work together in Doomsday. The film also includes Charles Xavier, the Fantastic Four, and the Wakandans, opening up exciting possibilities for character interactions that fans have wanted to see for years.
Using a similar approach to the team-ups in Infinity War would be a smart move for the next Doomsday film. Marvel Studios is aiming to recapture the positive feeling fans had during the Infinity Saga, and Infinity War really excelled at memorable pairings. The dynamic between Tony Stark and Doctor Strange, for example, was particularly strong – they were both brilliant, controlling, and self-centered. That relationship was a highlight of the entire saga, and Tony Stark, overall, had some fantastic alliances in that movie.
In a memorable scene from the battle against Thanos, Tony Stark attempts to strategize with Star-Lord, Mantis, and Drax, but struggles to get his point across. Peter Parker makes things worse by jokingly referencing the movie Footloose during the serious conversation. Star-Lord ends up appearing more responsible than Tony, which is quite unusual.
A Team-Up Dynamic Will Make Avengers: Doomsday Fun

Comic book movies should be enjoyable, and it’s always exciting to see beloved characters team up. Doomsday has the potential to be one of Marvel’s best films yet, bringing together heroes from all over the multiverse in a major crossover event.
For the first time, several of the superhero groups featured in the movie haven’t appeared together on screen before. For years, the X-Men and Fantastic Four were kept separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe while at Fox. Now that they’re finally sharing a movie, that unexpected team-up is a big source of excitement for fans.
Soon, we’ll see brilliant minds like Reed Richards standing with powerful figures like Thor and Loki. Characters from the X-Men, including Charles Xavier and Cyclops, will probably team up with The Avengers and other heroes. Just a few years ago, the idea of all these characters working together seemed impossible.
Okay, so after reading Pullman’s comments, I’m getting seriously excited about Doomsday. Let’s be real, Marvel’s Multiverse Saga hasn’t exactly been a home run so far. But if they can deliver on what this movie seems to promise, we might just see a return to the glory days of Marvel filmmaking. Fingers crossed this is the spark they need!
