All the celebrities who have cashed in with fake wedding ceremonies – after Stacey Solomon and Olivia Attwood’s sham marriages were exposed

We often see grand weddings, heartfelt promises, and beautiful ceremonies portrayed as genuine reflections of a couple’s relationship.

Although often seen as the highest expression of commitment, not all declarations of love have any legal weight, meaning they aren’t enforceable agreements.

Some celebrities have created elaborate commitment ceremonies – often for reality TV or publicity – that appear to be real weddings but aren’t legally binding.

Despite calling their televised wedding ‘the best day of their lives,’ it was discovered on Thursday that Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash’s ceremony wasn’t legally binding.

But they are not the only two to have faked their nuptials.

Here, the Daily Mail takes a look at the stars who have faked their big day.

Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash

Their wedding was celebrated with family and celebrity friends at their £1.2million home.

But there was one thing that Stacey and Joe’s wedding was not… legally binding.

The couple had a wedding celebration at their home, Pickle Cottage, in July 2022, but it’s now been discovered that they didn’t legally register the marriage.

Stacey explained that they intended to officially register their marriage after the wedding because their venue wasn’t licensed to hold civil ceremonies.

But three and a half years on, TV’s golden couple have still not made their union official.

This surprising news follows just two weeks of speculation about the TV personality’s relationship with Joe, 44, after she was seen without her wedding ring.

According to a source, they always planned to take legal steps, but with six children and hectic schedules, they simply haven’t found the time. Life just got in the way.

‘Stacey and Joe obviously knew that their garden wedding wasn’t legal and were upfront about that.’

Fans of Stacey and Joe, who followed the couple’s life on their BBC reality show, may be surprised by this news.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following Stacey and Joe’s blended family – it’s a busy but beautiful household! They’re raising their three young children – Rex, who’s six, Rose, four, and little Belle, who’s three. And it’s a full house because Stacey also has two older sons, Zachary, 18, and Leighton, 13, from previous relationships. Joe’s also a dad to Harry, who’s a bit older now, born back in 2007. It’s lovely to see them all navigating family life together!

Stacey also has lucrative family fashion ranges with Asda and Primark.

According to a source, people in the industry – including companies and television executives – will be surprised and concerned to learn that a seemingly flawless visual product was actually faked.

Olivia Attwood and Bradley Dack

Olivia Attwood and her former fiancé, Bradley Dack, shared their £200,000 wedding journey in a 12-part ITV series called ‘Olivia Marries Her Match’.

The reality star looked radiant as she walked down the aisle in a stunning, custom-made wedding gown by Israeli designer Galia Lahav, which cost £30,000 and featured delicate lace sleeves.

On June 3, 2023, she married the man she considered her soul mate in a lavish, all-out wedding at the luxurious Bulgari Hotel in Knightsbridge.

Throughout the show, viewers saw her anxiously sign the marriage license while surrounded by loved ones, including her supportive parents, Kai and Jen.

However, it appears Olivia’s wedding may not have been official, as The Mail on Sunday discovered no marriage record exists.

Even though the wedding was shown on ITV, it hasn’t been officially registered with the General Register Office, which keeps records of all marriages and civil partnerships in England and Wales.

Yes, the whole show, commissioned by ITV for a ‘significant’ sum of cash, was a sham.

According to someone who knows Olivia, their relationship was never about love, but rather financial gain. It’s now questionable whether anything Olivia says is trustworthy, and it’s hard to know what to believe anymore.

Olivia’s fans will likely be very upset. Although her team announced a marriage, it turns out it wasn’t real. It’s unbelievable – a complete fabrication and a real letdown for those who believed it. It’s just a joke.

Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau

YouTube personalities Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau surprised many people by getting married only two months after they started dating.

They got married in a televised ceremony in Las Vegas in July 2019.

The couple shared their wedding with fans online, who paid $49.99 each to watch a livestream of the ceremony.

Their friend, Arman Izadi, performed the wedding ceremony. However, InTouch magazine reported that he isn’t legally authorized to officiate marriages in that state.

According to the Clark County, Nevada website, a legal marriage requires a ceremony led by a qualified officiant. This officiant must be licensed and have a valid certificate from a Nevada County Clerk. Simply being ordained online or having a religious title isn’t enough.

Just days later, Tana revealed on her MTV show, Tana Turns 21, that the wedding wasn’t official and was simply for entertainment and social media content.

She revealed that they never intended to get married for real.

She admitted she cares about him, but described their connection as playful and created mainly for social media content.

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter

Brody Jenner and Kaitlynn Carter got married in a beautiful destination wedding in June 2018. The ceremony took place at the Nihi Sumba Resort in Indonesia.

The couple celebrated their wedding with a small, four-day event for 50 guests. The festivities included fun activities like horse races on the beach and a stylish white party.

The pair sold their wedding pictures to People magazine.

Kaitlynn described the night as a magical and unforgettable experience, emphasizing that it was a special moment for her and her partner, celebrating their long-standing connection.

However, speculation quickly grew over whether their marriage was legally binding.

In several scenes of The Hills, the couple found themselves defending their relationship.

Brody told his pal Spencer Pratt that while they haven’t made things legal, they are married.

He stated they were happy with their marriage exactly as it was and appreciated people checking in on them.

In another scene, he said they’ve just been ‘incredibly busy.’

He said they simply haven’t had the chance to officially get married, whether at the courthouse or through some other legal process.

As I mentioned before, regardless of whether we had a formal wedding or simply celebrated in Indonesia, we are married, she is my wife, and I love her very much.

However, there was no marriage certificate in the end as the pair split a year after their big day.

Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney

Oh my god, I still remember watching Tom and Katie’s wedding! It was such a big deal, and they showed it all on season five of Vanderpump Rules. I was totally obsessed with every detail, and rewatched that episode so many times! It feels like yesterday, honestly.

The episode showed everything that happened throughout the day, starting with preparations and ending with the reception, which included a ceremony led by Lisa Vanderpump.

In a surprising revelation during an episode of the show, Tom shared that he and his wife, Katie, weren’t actually legally married, shocking his friends in 2020.

He told pal Jax Taylor that he had never submitted his marriage license.

Tom confessed that he was responsible for keeping the marriage certificate safe at the wedding, but he misplaced it, remembering he’d likely left it in his car.

Katie explained that she wished Tom had stepped up more during their wedding planning. She had handled everything herself, even telling him, ‘This is your responsibility.’ She added that this experience is why she usually takes charge of things around the house.

Tom explained it was just a document, and he hadn’t realized how significant it was. Unfortunately, he accidentally shared it with Jax – the very last person he should have.

Tom and Katie first got married in 2016, and later had a formal wedding ceremony with a legal license at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas in July 2019. Most of their coworkers were there to celebrate with them.

Reza Jarrahy and Geena Davis

Reza Jarrahy and Geena Davis held a marriage-like ceremony in 2001.

The couple shared a statement with Hello! expressing their joy and excitement about building a life together.

I was absolutely shocked when I found out! They were together for seventeen years and had three beautiful kids, and all this time, everyone thought they were husband and wife. But when they separated in 2018, it came out that they never actually got legally married! Can you believe it? It just blows my mind after all this time and everything they built together.

In court, Geena stated that she and her partner never officially got a marriage license, and separate financial documents supported her claim.
