Raven-Symoné recalls suffering a seizure from anesthesia after undergoing first breast reduction at 15

As a dedicated follower of Raven-Symoné’s journey, I can’t help but admire her courage and resilience. Her candid discussions about her personal struggles with body image and societal pressures are both inspiring and heartbreaking. At just 15 years old, she underwent a breast reduction procedure that led to complications, yet she continued to push through the challenges and advocate for body positivity.

Raven-Symoné openly discussed experiencing a seizure when she was fifteen years old, which was caused by the anesthesia used during her breast reduction surgery.

During a recent episode of their Tea Time with Raven & Miranda podcast, the 38-year-old ex-Disney Channel actress openly shared that as a teen, she faced immense pressure to modify her physique in line with societal beauty norms.

The actress mentioned that it was the choice of those around her, including adults, who guided her decision-making process, ultimately leading to two breast reduction surgeries reducing her bust size from a DDD cup to a B cup.

She mentioned that she reduced her bra size from a triple D to a B at someone’s advice, and her father also encouraged this change as he believed it was necessary for her to secure a role in the show.

To prevent the actress from facing public criticism over her weight, Raven openly admitted that she underwent liposuction as a personal choice.

She expressed, “If I opt for liposuction, will others finally stop referring to me as overweight? That’s exactly what I did.

Speaking about her traumatic experience with breast reduction surgery, Raven shared that she experienced a seizure upon waking up because of the anesthesia, and she pointed out that there were noticeable scars remaining from the operation.

She mentioned that she has scars which are ongoing. Afterward, she put on weight and felt it necessary to undergo additional surgery due to her breasts being excessively large according to other people’s comfort.

Currently, she’s appreciative because society and Hollywood are becoming increasingly accepting of body positivity for the upcoming generations.

The former star of That’s So Raven expressed that she is experiencing a newfound, nurturing connection with her body, which she didn’t have when she was younger,” (or)

As a child star, Raven often experienced constant societal pressure to maintain perfection for the cameras and fans. Additionally, announcing her homosexuality in August 2013 only intensified her apprehensions about facing social rejection.

2023 saw her confessing to E! News that she faced numerous difficulties. She referred to the collapse of a barrier she’d maintained for decades, leaving her feeling exposed and vulnerable.

She stated, “I found it intriguing when this issue surfaced publicly. I aim to produce content that aligns with our community, always maintaining respect and dignity.

In June 2020, Raven and her girlfriend Miranda Maday tied the knot after five years of dating.

The were first linked back in 2015 at a gay bar in West Hollywood.

Last year, in an interview with E! News, I proudly acknowledged my incredible wife, who serves as my social media manager, as the inspiring force behind my weight-loss journey.

‘I want to make sure I am there for her in the best health possible,’ the Strut singer said.

During an interview on Good Morning America, she mentioned that she tries to keep her diet low in carbs as much as possible to ensure it stays well-balanced.

She also revealed that she follow ‘a minimum of a 14-hour fast between dinner and break-fast’ — also known as intermittent fasting.

‘I’m not over here trying to be a little twig,’ quipped in response to fans who worried for her.

‘I want to make sure that my body is healthy and prepared to deal with old age,’ she said.
