Videos have surfaced showing Sophie Turner enjoying a night out with friends, just four days after production on the $125 million Lara Croft TV series was paused because of her back injury.
Production at Shepperton Studios was paused for about a month after the lead actor from Game of Thrones, age 30, reinjured himself.
Sophie Turner recently suffered a small injury. Filming has been temporarily stopped so she can rest and recover. Production is expected to restart soon.
Despite production being temporarily stopped, actress Sophie Turner was seen having fun with friends at Trejo’s Taco in Notting Hill, West London, according to a video obtained by The Sun. An insider told the publication that Sophie was energetic and lively, enjoying drinks and dancing with her group.
Sophie appeared completely comfortable and was dancing to the live music.
‘She was there until the early hours of Saturday morning.’
Daily Mail has contacted Sophie’s representative for comment.
Production on the £100 million Amazon Prime series based on Lara Croft was disrupted last week when Sophie suffered an injury. There are concerns the actress might need up to six months to fully recover.
It’s possible Sophie’s break from work wasn’t her own choice, but a decision made by her employers, and she may not be off for very long.
Sophie is taking on the famous role previously played by Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander, and she’s been preparing for the action sequences with over a year of stunt training.
Since most of the new series is already shot, producers believe it would be difficult to recast the role of Sophie with a different actress.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe the drama! I heard from someone on set that everything is a total mess and the whole show could be cancelled! Apparently, Sophie has been working SO hard to become Lara Croft, really throwing herself into it, but it’s just been too much. All the running and stunts and everything… she’s really pushed her body to the absolute limit, and now there are worries she’s gone too far! I’m so worried about her, but also desperate for the show to happen!
There’s growing concern on set that Sophie might have to leave the production, as she’s struggling to recover from a demanding, physically exhausting role that really tested her limits.
‘But so much has already been shot that it’s causing a real headache for producers.’
Sophie shared that she discovered she had a recurring back injury while training, which she started in February of last year.
Sophie explained on The Julia Cunningham Show that she and her team have been training intensely – eight hours a day, five days a week – since February of the previous year. She admitted it’s been a demanding schedule.
I recently found out I have an ongoing back issue. It’s also been a long process getting in shape, as I hadn’t exercised before and building muscle takes time – it’s taken me months!
Sophie Turner is famous for playing Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones, but she says her time on the show didn’t help her prepare for the role of Lara Croft in Tomb Raider because she didn’t do much action during her years on Game of Thrones.
You know, I always prided myself on being the one who rose above conflict. I wasn’t interested in getting into fights – I was usually the one on the receiving end of them, honestly. I preferred to stay out of the drama and just be…cool.
‘So, it’s quite nice to learn how to throw a punch and not just take it.’
Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her role in Fleabag, is the creative force behind a new project. She wrote it, developed it, and is also an executive producer.
Last September, she revealed that Sophie Turner would be playing Lara, expressing her excitement about working with both Turner and the incredibly talented team behind the project.
‘It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving.
The whole team is incredibly enthusiastic about Lara, and they’re just as daring, funny, and bold as she is. Prepare yourselves – Lara Croft is on her way!
Sophie joins the likes of Sigourney Weaver and Jason Isaacs in the video game adaptation.
