As someone who has witnessed the resilience and determination of individuals like Jason “Sundance” Head, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of admiration for his spirit. The accident he experienced is a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life, yet it’s the way he handled the situation that truly shines.

According to Jason “Sundance” Head, the winner of “The Voice,” he’s grateful for being alive following an unfortunate accident where he shot himself in the abdomen on his ranch in East Texas.

On Friday, while hunting alone in the forest, the Season 11 winner sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound, as confirmed by his representative Trey Newman in a statement. The bullet entered his abdomen around evening time, and he was flown by air ambulance to a hospital located in Tyler, Texas, which is approximately 100 miles east of Dallas and roughly a three-hour drive from his rural Texas ranch.

As a die-hard film enthusiast, I’m excited to share some news about my favorite singer, Head. His representative recently informed the Associated Press that there were no critical injuries sustained during an incident. They clarified that Head didn’t need surgery and was in good enough condition not to require immediate medical intervention. Later on Friday, he was released from the hospital. However, as of Monday, Head hasn’t responded to my queries from The Times regarding this matter. I sure hope he’s doing well!

According to a post on Head’s official Facebook page, shared by his wife Misty, it was stated that Head was shot after he reached into his vehicle to retrieve his .22 caliber firearm. However, the gun accidentally discharged as it came out of its holster and struck the exterior of the Jeep in such a way that it went off.

In her post, it was written that Sundance stated it occurred swiftly, and he could perceive the bullet coming loose. She continued by explaining that she believed he dialed 911 but didn’t- instead reaching for his phone in his pocket right after getting shot, only to find it missing and replaced with blood. Consequently, he ran down the driveway towards the main road to hail a vehicle for assistance. Eventually, a driver turned back to aid him, and they phoned 911.

On Sunday, the artist expressed gratitude towards several individuals who came to his aid, including a couple of kind-hearted men, the Almighty for His protection, emergency responders, and a medical team associated with the University of Texas at Tyler.

He stated in a Facebook video that he had believed he was going to perish from an accidental stomach shooting, which was incredibly unusual for him. He’s alive but experiencing intense pain. Reflecting on the incident, he expressed that if he could repeat it a million times over, it wouldn’t happen the same way.

The head mentioned that he’d provide more details in upcoming “detailed instructional” videos, while also wanting to assure his friends that he was safe and alive.

In my own words, I’m grateful for each breath I take. There’s still a lot of living to do, and that’s what I shared with those kind souls who worked tirelessly to keep me going. I can’t express enough gratitude to the strangers on Route 84 who took a moment out of their day to help me when I needed it most.

I strongly believe I wouldn’t have survived without your help. I was in a critical state, severely injured and there was no one else around to assist me. Amazingly, several cars passed by and even made eye contact with me, but none stopped to help. It seemed like I had reached the end of my options,” he explained.

He said he still has the bullet in him and isn’t yet sure what to expect next.

I’m grateful for another chance at life, as it seems like a miracle to me after surviving [Friday]. The Lord has bestowed upon me blessings that are hard to fathom – sobriety, self-love, a renewed spirit, and pride in myself. I want to share this newfound spirit with others. Moreover, I’ve been given the opportunity to express my experiences through music, which is the only way I know how to communicate.

In another post, Misty Head posted a picture of the torn black shirt that she was wearing during the event to show everyone just how fortunate he was, according to her statement.

She wrote, “Any more or less would have been disastrous,” pointing out that the bullet passed through the clothing and struck her husband, highlighting the narrow margin of their survival.

In 2016, his head was mentored by the country artist Blake Shelton during “The Voice”. Before this, he participated in “American Idol” in 2007 and advanced to the semi-finals on the Fox talent show.
