As a long-standing fan of Valerie Bertinelli, I’ve always admired her strength and resilience, both on and off the screen. But reading about her recent battle with anxiety attack has touched my heart in a way that words can hardly express.

Valerie Bertinelli shared raw video capturing the aftermath of an anxiety attack.

Over the weekend, Bertinelli experienced a bout of anxiety and needed some time to gather herself. She even captured a video of her shaking, damp hand, which continued to tremble and glisten with sweat long after the initial panic had passed.

In a recent video, Bertinelli, aged 64, expressed, “I am giving it my all. Gosh, the lingering effects of an anxiety attack are truly challenging. Goodness!

In a detailed description, Bertinelli openly discussed her past struggles with anxiety and mentioned that it had been a while since her last anxiety attack, which came as an unexpected shock to her.

To help himself relax after his recent breakup with Mike Goodnough, Bertinelli turned to meditation and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.

She had waited a day to publish this post as it was very exposed, which can be frightening to disclose. However, she decided to share it because we all are striving to live our human lives, and no one wants to feel isolated in their experiences. This is what she expressed in the caption of the video that she posted on Sunday.

‘Okay. Deep breath…here goes…

It appears that the video might give you a clue, as I’m still feeling quite jittery while typing this (my heart is racing a bit). Today, I experienced an extremely intense bout of anxiety, something I haven’t felt in a long, long time. Just a short while ago, I was crying uncontrollably, and it seemed like my heart was pounding forcefully against my chest. I couldn’t manage to stop shaking.

‘I know I’m taking a chance, but, I want to share it because I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one out here who has experienced this. Gratefully these attacks have become much more infrequent, so this one took me a little bit by surprise today. This is the after effect. As I’m going through the actual attack (lol attack is such an appropriate word. My body and my mind feels like it’s actually under attack) Anyway…

In simpler terms, when I feel overwhelmed, I try to detach mentally, focusing solely on calming myself down and seeking a path towards relaxation and tranquility. It’s because I understand that my brain is just worrying excessively and catastrophizing, but my body reacts strongly, leaving me with little control over the situation.

Later on, despite my efforts to meditate and utilize EMDR techniques, I’m still finding it challenging to fully quieten my mind and emotions.

A duality exists within me: one aspect is captivated by the extraordinary feats the human body can perform, even when emotions interfere or take precedence over rational thought. The other part yearns for an understanding of the mechanisms behind this phenomenon, delving into the intricacies of our brain’s neuropathies and their influence on our bodies. In essence, I’m curious about feelings – information, as you put it – and their potent ability to drive our bodies beyond their normal limits.

Have you ever had an intense panic attack that lingered for some time afterward before it finally settled down?

Could you let me know if anyone else is experiencing this too, and if so, what strategies or tips have worked for you as well?

‘Anyway…this little bit of vulnerability is brought to you by someone who wants you to know you’re not alone. Love you.’

Bertinelli experienced an anxiety attack a few weeks following her separation from her boyfriend, Mike Goodnough, whom she had been dating for ten months.

‘They are no longer in a relationship,’ a source told People earlier this month

Initially, the pair crossed paths on Instagram with a purely friendly connection. However, things took a turn for the intimate as they grew closer starting from January 2024, as they both felt an uncanny sense of familiarity and a comfortable rapport had developed between them.

In April 2024, they made their relationship public on Instagram, and exactly two months later, they attended their first premiere event together.

The actress told People in July that being a long-distance couple was ‘challenging.’

When she first went public with the romance, she explained the attraction.

She remarked, “His voice had such a captivating tone. It left me thinking, ‘I’m not ready to engage in conversation with him just yet, as it’s quite appealing.’

‘We both had strong feelings, trying not to admit them,’ she added.
