Dolly Parton has children’s hospital named after her after making a ‘generational and transformational’ donation

Dolly Parton generously donated a significant amount of her $450 million fortune to the East Tennessee Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. The donation was so large that the hospital has been renamed Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital in her honor.

According to president and CEO Matt Schaefer, she’s made a truly significant, long-lasting commitment to Children’s and its work, as he told Chief Healthcare Executive on Monday.

We are incredibly grateful for this extraordinary commitment, which far exceeds anything we could have hoped for. It’s a remarkably generous gift that will be vital to our mission, both now and in the future, and we are deeply honored by her willingness to support us.

Schaefer is thrilled to put the generous donation from the country music icon towards expanding the hospital’s team of doctors and nurses, boosting fundraising efforts, and improving its programs, technology, and overall care for the 89-year-old pediatric hospital.
