In a candid moment, Horgan confessed that they had given serious thought to whether or not they were truly committed to making that fateful choice.
For a while, she questioned if we could maintain the unique blend of comedy, tragedy, drama, and farce in the show following Grace’s departure, as she shared with Variety. The tone of the show is a delicate balance that requires precision, and it often veers towards the absurd at times.
Once we realized the tone we needed to maintain, we never hesitated. I knew it would be jarring and utterly distressing, but I believed it was crucial to illustrate the devastating impact [of abuse in a relationship].
The star elaborated by saying that they found it deeply affecting not to have Duff around during filming, and furthermore, they described the entire production process as a turbulent emotional ride.
Duff stated that she found out her character was going to die quite some time before the script came, which meant she didn’t experience the usual shock of a soap opera twist.
