The Super Mario Galaxy Movie post-credit scene explained
Okay, so let’s talk about that little scene after the credits in The Super Mario Bros. Movie. It was a cool moment, but honestly, it didn’t really shock me or anything.
The story revisits Lumalee, who is now a prison guard at the facility holding Bowser and Bowser Jr. after the movie’s events. This moment was briefly shown in the final trailer, probably because fans really loved her character in the first film.

In a scene that also hints at a potential future Star Fox movie, we see Fox McCloud being released from prison. He tells a blue Toad that he’s going home now that his warp drive is repaired.
Although another Super Mario movie featuring Fox and his friends is possible, it seems more probable that Fox will star in his own film, particularly now that Glen Powell has been cast in the role.
Okay, so the real setup for the next Super Mario movie happens right after the credits roll. We flash back to the Gateway Galaxy, and I was totally surprised to see Ukiki trying to swipe someone’s stuff! But Princess Daisy shows up and stops him – seriously, what a cool moment! It definitely feels like she’s going to be a big deal in the next film.
Princess Daisy originally appeared in the very first Game Boy game, Super Mario Land, and has since become a frequent character in games like Mario Kart and Mario Party. She doesn’t speak in the post-credit scene of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, so we’ll find out who voices her when she officially appears in a future game.
She previously acted in the 1993 Super Mario Bros. movie, playing Princess Daisy. Samantha Mathis portrayed the character in that film. While Deanna Mustard and Giselle Fernandez have voiced Princess Daisy in the video games, it’s unlikely either will return if a third movie is made.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is out now in cinemas.
