Accused season 2, episode 4: What happened to Justin?
As a seasoned gamer and avid follower of crime dramas, I must say that the latest episode of Accused featuring Michael Chiklis was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. The storyline about Justin, the wrestling coach, and young TJ was both heart-wrenching and thought-provoking.
Following a two-week break, Michael Chiklis reappears in the series, taking on the role of Justin once again, this time in episode 4 of season 2 of “Accused.
Caution: This post contains SPOILERS from Accused season 2, episode 4.
As a gamer, I’ve got to admit, Michael Chiklis truly brings his characters to life in a way that tugs at my heartstrings, even when they make questionable choices. In this latest episode, I found myself sympathizing with Justin’s actions, understanding why he did what he did, but that didn’t change the fact that it was still wrong.
In essence, the core theme of the episode didn’t revolve around Justin. Instead, it was about yearning to break free from a certain life. It was about pursuing the mythical American Dream, and this was the narrative for TJ, a young man who aspired to rise above his working-class upbringing and achieve greatness in wrestling.
What did Justin do in Accused season 2, episode 4?
Justin functioned as a wrestling mentor. Although he cared for all his athletes, he formed stronger bonds with certain individuals rather than others – this was particularly the case with TJ. His deepest wish was for TJ to achieve his aspirations, which mirrored Justin’s own unfulfilled dreams. A talented athlete himself during high school, a devastating injury dashed his dreams of greatness. Despite his humble origins, he found himself back in the same working-class environment he had aspired to leave behind.
It wasn’t a shock when it was discovered that Justin secretly provided TJ with his own urine for the drug test, as he was determined to shield TJ from the consequences of the pressure he was under. TJ didn’t want to let his mother, Erica, down, who encouraged him to pursue his dreams and reach greatness. Unfortunately, this ambition led TJ to resort to using steroids, which could have derailed his aspirations. Justin couldn’t bear the thought of that happening to TJ.
Due to his steroid abuse, TJ ultimately suffered a fatal collapse. But here’s the curious twist: How did Justin become embroiled in this situation? Through Justin’s knowledge about the steroids, he was implicated in an involuntary manslaughter case.
Was Justin found guilty in Accused?
In Chiklis’s debut episode, we discovered that S wouldn’t bear responsibility for his son’s actions because he was unaware of his son’s intentions regarding the money. However, in this particular episode, Justin played a more significant role in TJ’s demise. If Justin had prevented TJ from using steroids or intervened by speaking out, the tragic events could have been avoided. Ultimately, Justin shares blame for TJ’s death.
It’s possible that TJ might have passed away regardless. Given his rapid three-month decline due to heart damage from steroids, it seems likely he had an underlying heart condition. Unfortunately, we may never be certain about the cause of his death as we can only base our conclusions on the available information in such cases.
In the finale of season 2, episode 4 of the series “Accused,” it was no shock that Justin was convicted for involuntary manslaughter. However, a more profound conversation arises regarding unbroken cycles and the significant problems stemming from financial struggles.
Accused airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on FOX. Catch up the following day on Hulu.
