Kim, aged 45, posted a video featuring Olivia Munn, 44, wearing her own label Skims, while discussing Munn’s fight against cancer and expressing heartfelt sentiments in a moving tribute.
In the caption, Kim expressed that each scar carries a tale of bravery, serving as a monument to a struggle faced and triumph achieved. It represents endurance, a badge of power proudly displayed, much like an additional layer of skin.
As a committed admirer, I’m thrilled to highlight Olivia Munn’s brave battle against breast cancer this October, aiming to motivate all women to undergo regular screenings.

In the video that Kim posted, Olivia donned a black bra under a slip skirt while addressing the cameras. A particular phrase resonated deeply with her concerning breast cancer: “You’re joining the most unfortunate club with the most extraordinary members.
Olivia continued: ‘My name is Olivia Munn and I’m a breast cancer survivor. When I look at the scars or how my breast look difference or how my clothes fit on me differently, just feel a lot of gratitude the way my body looks is just a representation of how hard I fought.’
In the Skims advertisement, Olivia proudly displayed her mastectomy scar, leaving her upper body bare and showing the mark on her left breast.
The campaign comes during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In the advertisement, Olivia showcased several outfits from Skims, among them was a style known as the ‘nipple bra,’ which has artificial nipples embedded.
Olivia shared snaps from the campaign to her own ad, writing: ‘KINTSUGI 金継ぎ. In the middle of this latest @SKIMS bra campaign shoot, I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars.
‘Every mark life has left behind on my body is proof of how hard I fought. I hope other women who have been self-conscious about their scars see these photos and feel all the love I’m sending.
Contributing to a project that boosts breast cancer research, benefiting countless people affected, holds immense significance for me.
During a conversation with Today, Olivia shared that her campaign was originally not intended to focus on her scars; however, she decided to take ownership of them and make it part of the campaign instead.
She stated that when Skims asked her to participate in the campaign, the focus was solely on promoting their shapewear and new leggings, with no regard for her scar whatsoever.
However, during the campaign shoot, Olivia found it challenging to hide her scars when she switched to an attire that made them more noticeable.
She stated, “During the filming process, we switched to an outfit revealing more of my scars. The makeup artist was then working on them, but it proved challenging to conceal my double mastectomy scars.
Later on, as she gazed into the mirror, a thought crossed her mind: “I no longer wish to feel self-conscious about my scars.” With that decision made, she approached the team at Skims and posed the question, “What do you all think about featuring my scars in our upcoming campaign?
They were truly remarkable, considerate, and delightful. After discussing our options, we made a decision to proceed with the plan.
Olivia and her spouse John Mulaney have just expanded their family with the arrival of their second child. Their little girl, named Méi June Mulaney, joined them about a month ago, having been brought into the world through a surrogate.
The couple also share two-year-old son Malcolm together.
Over the past year, after receiving a diagnosis of luminal B breast cancer in both breasts, Olivia has had a total of five surgical procedures performed on her – these include a complete hysterectomy as well as a double mastectomy.
Today, correspondent Savannah Guthrie observed, “You put in such an effort for this second child too… and you underwent a significant operation where they removed your ovaries and uterus, as well as an egg retrieval. Each step of that process is its own unique journey.
Olivia recounted the sense of alarm she felt when getting a breast cancer diagnosis, all the while striving to grow their family with John.
Initially, we intended to attempt having another child. At that moment, I expressed, “It’s crucial for me to preserve more eggs.” I had already frozen eggs during my 30s, but I was unsure about their quality since I hadn’t turned them into embryos yet.
“I told John I have to store or use more eggs, which might pose a risk for me since it could lead to increased hormone levels in my body, and these hormones fuel my cancer.
‘I needed your backing for this venture, and I must admit it was intimidating, but he assured me he’d stand by my side. In fact, he said he’d support whatever I chose to do. So we embarked on the mission to obtain more eggs, and deep within, I hoped for a daughter. But he was there with me every step of the way.’
In simpler terms, the individual expressed a strong desire for not just one but two embryos, specifically two female ones. The doctor suggested they get an additional embryo due to the high risk involved, and then proceed with only one retrieval aiming for a girl. When their embryos were being tested, there were actually two of them. This was later mentioned to John.
‘I said, “Ah man, our odds of getting at least one to be a girl and healthy is really slim.” I said, “I need you to support me, because I want to go back and do it again if we don’t get two. I really want two.” And he said, “Whatever you want to do, I support you.” We got home that day and we got a call from my fertility doctor, Dr. Wong, and he said “We got the results back and it’s the dream.” Said it’s two healthy baby girl embryos.
John and I both broke down in tears, shocked by the incredible fortune we’ve encountered after a string of unfortunate incidents in our lives. One of these miracles is our precious daughter, Mae. If it weren’t for those hardships, she wouldn’t be here today.
