Nicole Kidman’s younger co-star Harris Dickinson talks ’embarrassing’ moment during Babygirl sex scenes

In a recent disclosure, Harris Dickinson, Nicole Kidman’s fellow actor in the upcoming movie ‘Babygirl’, shared insights into the experience of filming intimate and sensual scenes alongside her on the set.
In the erotic movie directed by Halina Reijn, a 28-year-old actor known as Iron Claw shares the screen with the 57-year-old actress from Big Little Lies, and their characters become entangled in an affair.
In a recent conversation with Variety, Harris openly discussed that he along with Nicole collaborated with an intimacy consultant, and confessed one unplanned sensual scene was quite awkward to shoot.
He mentioned that they would consult with the intimacy coordinator, and afterwards, Nicole and he mainly took charge of their actions while defining boundaries within which they felt comfortable.
The intimacy supervisor is asking, “What are your boundaries, what are your directorial preferences, and what activities do you feel at ease performing based on our shared vision?” They ensure this conversation happens smoothly, not disturbing the ongoing performance.
Harris mentioned that an instance, which involved him almost completely undressed and performing a dance in a hotel room to a George Michael tune without any prior practice, ended up being quite ‘awkward’ or ‘uncomfortable’ to capture on film.
As a seasoned dancer who has graced many a stage and dance floor, I can confidently say that the moment when Halina played her song and urged me to just dance was one I’ll never forget. With a little bit of liquid courage in my system from a pre-dance glass of whiskey, I let loose and allowed my body to move freely. However, it turned out to be quite an embarrassing spectacle as I reveled in the music and let go of inhibitions. Yet, despite the cringeworthy performance, that moment of unbridled joy and expression was a testament to the power of music and dance in lifting our spirits.
He also praised Nicole as being ‘like the most comforting, warm performer to work across from.’
‘She establishes an atmosphere on set that makes it effortless to express vulnerability and humor, as she takes bold risks. She’s incredibly brave, doing things that leave you in awe, making you wonder, “What on earth is she up to?” It’s hard to fathom her actions.’
After Nicole confessed that during the movie shoot, she became so aroused that she needed to take a break from filming at one point.
The film sees Nicole play a high-powered married company boss who falls for a kinky young intern.
As reported by The Sun, during a recent candid conversation, Nicole admitted that acting alongside Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas, who played her character’s husband, Jacob, proved emotionally overwhelming on numerous occasions.
Initially, Nicole expressed that there was a great deal of collaboration, trust, and eventually, feelings of irritation. In simpler terms, it felt something like, “I need some personal space.
‘There were times when we were shooting where I was like, “I don’t want to orgasm any more”.
“Keep your distance please. This situation makes me uncomfortable. To be honest, I wouldn’t mind if physical contact is avoided from now on. I’ve moved past it, but it used to consume so much of my energy that it felt overwhelming at times.
She also said that she found shooting her raunchy scenes with Harris ‘liberating’.
According to People, it was stated that the female director, Halina, made sure both actors felt entirely secure while executing intimate scenes by guaranteeing they wouldn’t be pressured beyond their personal comfort limits.
In a recent question-and-answer session, Kidman expressed it as follows: ‘It feels like leaping off a cliff, taking a leap of faith, where you decide to let go of everything and delve into unexplored territory with the people I trust, in a genre that’s already established.’
‘But hopefully we can explore new territory and especially with the female at the helm.’
She added, ‘You have your director at the helm going, “I will protect you. Nothing that’s going to be in the film will be anything that you are not comfortable with. You are going to be okay.”‘
In the scenes involving her co-star, the actress from Eyes Wide Shut expressed that she placed a significant level of faith in him. She further noted that during filming, they would exchange a simple nod and say, “Alright.
During filming of intimate scenes, Dickinson confessed to feeling genuinely frightened at times, but he emphasized that director Reijn never compelled them to keep working if either party felt uneasy about continuing.
He admitted that there were times when he would enter a scene feeling incredibly frightened, unsure of how he was going to carry on.
On any given day, when the setup didn’t feel right, or we weren’t at ease, or we couldn’t grasp what we needed, we always believed that taking the necessary time to get it right was essential.
‘It was just like, “Okay, everyone go away for a second.”
Babygirl hits cinemas on Christmas Day in the US.
The Hollywood star has already received critical acclaim for her performance following the film’s premiere at the Venice Film Festival, where she was awarded Best Actress.
