Sex and The City fans go wild over theory about which political party the four characters would vote for

As a long-time fan of Sex and the City, I have eagerly anticipated every twist and turn in the lives of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte. Having grown up watching these characters navigate love, friendship, and life in New York City, it’s fascinating to see how their journeys continue in And Just Like That…

Enthusiasts of Sex and The City were abuzz this past week, stirred by an intriguing speculation online regarding which political party the primary characters might support.

The beloved TV series, airing from 1998-2004 with subsequent films, chronicled the love lives and adventures of four close friends – Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) – set in New York City.

Although the show occasionally touched upon politics – Carrie dated city councilman Bill Kelley in the third season episode “Politically Erect,” and Donald Trump appeared as a cameo in the second season’s “The Man, the Myth, the Viagra” – it never disclosed the political leanings of the four main characters.

Currently, a user of X has proposed their perspective on whom each character might support – igniting intense discussions online, particularly regarding manipulative PR woman Samantha.

In my own words, I, a lifestyle expert, would rephrase that as follows: “I, Carrie, hadn’t participated in voting until I was encouraged by Big to cast my ballot for Bush in 2000. Politically unengaged, my political leanings could be described as ‘following the lead of men.’

‘Charlotte York: lifelong registered Republican. Doesn’t tell the other girls. Has a whole other set of WASPy ladies who lunch friends who share her views. Donates generously.

Miranda Hobbs identifies as a straight Democrat, participates in feminist gatherings, leans spiritually towards lesbianism, and has had one instance of arrest during her time at Columbia due to protest activities.

Samantha Jones is politically well-equipped, leaning towards Republican ideologies, yet she also supports Democratic causes. She often appears alongside influential figures from both political spectra.

‘Mr. Big is actually literally friends with Trump. They hung out at the same clubs in the 80s.

As a devoted observer of their relationship dynamics, I find that Steve often seems to lack his own decisive voice and tends to follow Miranda’s lead more frequently.

And of Samantha’s actor love Smith Jerrod they quipped: ‘D**k too big to care about politics.’

Carrie’s former partner, Aidan Shaw, might have been similar to today’s progressive Democrat supporters (Bernie bros) back in the 90s. On the other hand, Mr. Big’s ex-wife, Natasha, was thought to be a strict Republican, without any reservations.

Supporters quickly took to social media to refute the claim that Samantha is a Republican, as her staunch advocacy for women’s rights has led many to believe she aligns with progressive values instead.

Steve and Samantha identify as Democrats. Given her beliefs, it’s unlikely that Samantha would be a Republican, as she strongly supports women’s rights.

An alternate expression could be: ‘It’s hard to believe Samantha Jones would be a Republican. It seems more fitting for Charlotte, especially during her time with Trey when she wasn’t enjoying romantic relationships. Yes, absolutely.’

It’s clear that anyone assuming Samantha as a Republican may not have fully grasped her character. This viewpoint, however, doesn’t exclude the possibility that Charlotte, herself, might have been a Republican.

‘Nope. She is way too much of a strong, independent woman to vote republican.

‘If people think Samantha was republican they never watched the show.

Samantha strongly opposes the removal of women’s reproductive rights. To be honest, I find it unlikely that any Republicans hold this view, except perhaps Charlotte in the past while she was with Trey, but she has since evolved on this issue due to her struggles with fertility.

‘no way, Sam and Miranda are Democrats. Charlotte’s GOP and Carrie might secretly vote Republican.

“Not a single girl, including the conservative one named Charlotte, would be a Republican. I’m certain that Carrie never casts her vote.

Many people have referenced Samantha’s renowned statement where she expressed her viewpoint as follows: ‘I don’t align myself with either the Republican Party or the Democratic Party; instead, I support ideas and groups regardless of their political affiliation.’

I’ve been utterly captivated by this theory: “Could Carrie be a Democrat? Her witty remarks towards Giuliani and her past relationship with a Democratic politician certainly give that impression.

‘Charlotte is the most likely to be a Republican but would never vote for Trump.’

‘SJ is in no way Trump coded. She’s self-made and successful. Sex positive ≠ sex offender. SJ’s getting Met Gala invites. If SJ ever had a GOP affiliation, it would have been Republican Bloomberg. And Charlotte left the GOP when Trey couldn’t “stand up.’

‘no way, Sam and Miranda are Democrats. Charlotte’s GOP and Carrie might secretly vote Republican.

It’s certain that none of those girls, including the conservative Charlotte, would identify as Republicans. I’m equally confident that Carrie doesn’t cast her vote.

Initially, “Spin-off And Just Like That…” debuted on HBO Max back in 2021, and its second season was unveiled last year, specifically in 2023. However, Sarah Jessica Parker, who originally starred in the show, was absent for this season but made an unexpected appearance in the finale’s closing scenes.

That very same August, it was announced that the series would return for a third installment, scheduled to be broadcast at some point during the year 2025.

At the point when it was renewed, Showrunner Michael Patrick King made a statement, according to Entertainment Tonight.)

We’re excited to delve deeper into the world of Sex and the City, sharing fresh tales about these characters we can all relate to and aspire to, brought to life so brilliantly by our talented cast members. So, here begins Season 3 – “And Just Like That…

Previously this year, Sarah provided a sneak peek into what viewers might encounter in the upcoming third season, as well as details about her character Carrie Bradshaw.

On the Today show, she elaborated by saying that season three has a delicate and elegant texture, similar to a soufflé, and further expressed her joy by stating, ‘It simply feels incredibly charming.’

In other words, Carrie’s life will likely involve multiple levels, intricacies, and difficulties, much like what is typically found.
