Brent Spiner’s Justice League-type of movie could still work
As a die-hard Trekkie who’s been following Star Trek since the original series graced our black and white TV screens, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia mixed with excitement at the prospect of a grand crossover event that brings together all the captains from every series.
Following the underwhelming performance of Star Trek: Nemesis at the box office, it seemed like we wouldn’t see the crew of The Next Generation again until they reunited for the final season of Star Trek: Picard. After Nemesis, Brent Spiner and John Logan conceived a fascinating concept for another movie that would have assembled all captains, crews, villains, and more from every series for an epic showdown. Regrettably, Paramount found it financially impractical to bring this idea to life at the time. However, with the advent of Paramount+ focusing on streaming content, this might be the ideal moment to reconsider Spiner and Logan’s visionary plan.
Four more potential captains – Captain Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), Captain Pike (Anson Mount), and Captain Freeman (Dawnn Lewis) – have been suggested for inclusion in our setup, creating a diverse group that could star in their own movie or contribute to a crossover event. This move has the potential to attract fans from four distinct series and potentially strengthen the franchise by uniting its audience.
In this scenario, we might have several antagonists appearing, such as the Gorn, Borg, Control, Badgey, and many more. While the original crews could be reassembled to help out, having these four captains collaborating as a team would make for an incredible tale. If Paramount+ truly aims to elevate its content, they might even introduce characters from the original series, like captains or admirals.
Absolutely, it seems quite intriguing, but Star Trek has always been known for its unconventional ideas. Imagine if the captains from the recent Star Trek series joined forces in an epic battle! It could even be orchestrated by Admiral Janeway [Kate Mulgrew]. Such a movie would undoubtedly be worth every penny spent on a Paramount+ subscription!
