‘RHONJ’ alum Dina Manzo’s ex sentenced to 7 years for mob assault of her now-husband
As someone who has navigated through the tumultuous world of reality TV, I can’t help but feel a sense of relief and vindication reading about the sentencing of Thomas Manzo. While my own marital issues never escalated to such extreme levels, it’s heartening to see justice served in this situation.

Thomas Manzo, who was married from 2005 to 2016 and is a podcast host’s former spouse, was convicted of hiring and subsequently aiding a well-known mobster to attack Dave Cantin, now his ex-husband, in 2015. At the age of 59, Manzo was also given three years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

During a nearly three-week long trial this year, it was claimed by the prosecution that Manzo had contracted John Perna from the Lucchese crime family to inflict the July 2015 attack on Dave Cantin as a payment for a complimentary wedding reception. The assault, according to the prosecutors, resulted in severe injuries for Cantin.
Approximately a month following the incident, Perna organized an elaborate gathering for roughly 330 guests at Manzo’s Brownstone Restaurant. While under investigation by federal authorities, it was alleged that Manzo tampered with and fabricated documents pertaining to the wedding. This was presented as evidence by prosecutors. In December 2020, Perna admitted guilt to the assault and was subsequently sentenced to serve two and a half years in prison. He was released from incarceration in August 2023.
Dina Cantin, aged 52, has been a part-time cast member on “RHONJ” since its debut in 2009, but she left the reality TV show following her relocation to the West Coast. She and Manzo divorced in 2016 after separating in 2012.
On June 2017, Dina and Dave Cantin got married. A spokesperson for Dina Cantin didn’t get back to The Times about our request for comment on Wednesday, but the television personality posted an encouraging quote from author Bianca Sparacino on her Instagram account, during the proceedings of her ex-husband’s sentencing.
