James Blunt vows to LEGALLY change his name to ‘Blunty McBluntface’ if his album re-release makes it to number one in the charts

James Blunt vows to LEGALLY change his name to 'Blunty McBluntface' if his album re-release makes it to number one in the charts

As a longtime admirer of James Blunt’s music, I find his recent antics to be both amusing and commendable. His willingness to change his name based on public vote is a testament to his love for his fans and his commitment to engaging with them in unique ways.

If James Blunt’s upcoming album reaches the top spot on the charts, he plans to officially adopt the name “Blunty McBluntface.

He plans to reissue his 2004 album, “Back To Bedlam,” and has promised that if this music reaches the pinnacle, he will adopt a new name based on the public’s preference.

On Sunday, he shared a video sketch revealing the selection made by the public on his social media platform.

50-year-old artist unveiled the album “Back To Bedlam” about twenty years back, which included chart-topping songs like “You’re Beautiful,” “High,” “Wisemen,” and “Goodbye My Lover.

The album climbed its way to number one on the U.K. albums chart for several weeks, eventually earning a 10-times platinum certification.

To mark its 20-year milestone, the Hampshire Star is planning a reissue of their album along with a tour.

The reveal was made in the sketch video showing him trying to enter a Warner Music Group building, only to be stopped by the front desk as they wouldn’t accept his name as ‘James Blunt’.

Later, he attempts to gain entry using several notable names such as ‘Jimmy Spliff’, ‘Blames Junt’, ‘Divock Origi’, ‘James Cucking Funt’, and ‘Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Pop Star Four Chord Machiney’. However, these aliases don’t yield any success.

Looking deflated his final guess is then ‘Blunty McBluntface,’ and he is finally granted access.

He then mutters ‘People have no imagination,’ to which the front desk receptionist replies, ‘The people have spoken.’

In a post on his Instagram, singer James Blunt earlier mentioned: “I’m James Blunt, and you hold the ability to significantly impact my life.

It’s been circulating that there’s some truth to the gossip, and indeed, I’ll be re-releasing my first album, Back To Bedlam, on October 11. This release has been a consistent source of wealth for me over the past two decades.

If “Back To Bedlam” reaches number one in the charts again, as a token of appreciation for my dedicated fans, I’m willing to consider changing my name. The new moniker would be determined by your suggestions.

In the course of my life, I’ve been referred to as various names, such as “the most detested figure in pop,” “irritating,” or “James Beige.” Ultimately, it’s up to the public to make their own judgments.

After that, he mentioned: ‘If it fails to reach the top spot, I won’t be altering my name. It’s clear that this is the pivotal democratic event of the year.’

James reiterated the same promise while appearing on Radio X’s Chris Moyles Show Monday.

He stated that he is open to letting the public decide on a new name for him, as they are free to make the choice.

I assure you, it’s not a hoax. I promise by my own life and that of my fan, Brian from Glasgow, that if it reaches number one, I’ll change my name.

The performer went on to say, “Indeed. I vow by Brian’s and my life. Whatever the audience desires – and let’s face it, they’re always considerate, they wouldn’t favor anything that sounds like ‘Blunt’, would they?

‘But you know, as long as it’s not, you know, Blunty McBluntface.’

James explained to the radio host that it was a way to encourage fans to purchase the new album.

He revealed that High was the first chart-topping single, followed by the success of Wiseman and You’re Beautiful.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I proudly shared that “High” marked our debut single. To our delight, it garnered some airplay, dominating the waves on Radio X – truly a fitting platform for me!

He added: ‘And then we put Wisemen out, and the album got into the top 20 and then came the killer, You’re Beautiful, in 2005 at that stage, and the rest is a terrible, terrible history!

Mark my words, fellow fans! On the 11th day of October, we’ll be graced with a 20th anniversary reissue – a treasure trove for us all! This special edition is packed with songs never before heard, such as “Standing All Alone,” “Close Your Eyes,” “Butterfly,” and a delightful B-side track called “Sugar-Coated.” Get ready to relive the magic!
