In this episode, the frequent flashbacks can become somewhat repetitive. After all, the audience is aware of Diana’s continuous loyalty towards the Citadel, a fact that has been evident throughout the entire season.

Absolutely, this is the final episode. This implies that all the events reach their peak, crucial choices are made, and there’s a suggestion of future storylines if the series Citadel: Diana gets another season.

At some point, Ettore advises Edo that with this newfound power, Edo must understand its implications. It appears that Edo has indeed comprehended its significance.

Edo takes steps that Citadel: Diana has teased from the start

Once Edo discovers that Matteo has been dispatched with the intention of harming Diana, it’s already past the point where he can effectively prevent it. Consequently, Matteo and Diana engage in a climactic battle, one that has been building tension throughout the season without our full awareness. This confrontation offers us a unique opportunity to witness their combat skills, particularly as both characters hold significant roles within their respective organizations – Diana as the protagonist and Matteo as the head of security.

In a surprising twist, Edo employs his hidden strategy. He secretly administered his father with a concoction called Jupiter, complete with safety mechanisms! Later, we witness Edo’s actions as he activates this very mechanism, leaving Ettore in shock. This act underscores the lengths Edo will go to safeguard Diana. The use of this kill switch solidifies the notion that there is a deep bond between Edo and Diana – one that transcends the obstacles imposed by the world around them, suggesting they share a profound love for each other.

The big twist in Citadel: Diana’s finale

In the scene where Diana eliminates other Manticore operatives, it becomes clear that she isn’t working alone. It’s typical for spy dramas to have a shocking twist at the end of their seasons, but the twist in Citadel: Diana feels overused and not particularly enjoyable. Remarkably, Gabriele has been alive throughout this storyline. Somehow, he locates Diana and intervenes, rescuing her from the Manticore agents.

After such a long period, Diana discovers that she isn’t the sole Citadel wolf operating independently. Her mentor is present, and now her allegiances will be torn once more. When Gabriele advised Diana to “recall” that Citadel were the good guys, I had a feeling this revelation would surface eventually. I assumed it might be something she’d uncover during her assignments at Manticore to provide us with fresh insights. Instead, it seems to be connected to her romantic relationship with Edo, which is a common trope in spy stories.

If Citadel: Diana is granted a second season, it’s evident that Diana’s struggle between her duties at Citadel and her connection to Edo will be the main focus. This tension leaves several plot threads from the first season unresolved, including the retrieval of the Citadel agent from Manticore’s prisons in Italy and the revelation of Diana’s secret act of killing Enrico.

The final episode of “The Citadel: Diana” season 1 lacked impact. Following a thrilling season full of surprises, the finale was overly predictable and stereotypical. It seemed as though it could have been condensed and integrated into the last two episodes, which is unfortunate given how much I enjoyed this initial season.
