63-year-old Scottish comedian, who specializes in stand-up comedy, received a diagnosis of ovarian cancer in 2021. Following her chemotherapy treatment, she is currently receiving comfort care at a hospice that focuses on end-of-life support.

She has told in a new interview how hard it was to break the tough news to Ashley, 38, – a comedian and radio star – because she is a ‘catastrophiser’.

Janey told The Times: ‘The worst part of it was having to tell Ashley. She has always been a catastrophiser; telling her was like throwing a hand grenade. 

As an ardent admirer, I share with Ashley the belief that her impending freedom from chemotherapy will bring immense relief: no more enduring its grueling sessions, no more hair loss, no more bouts of vomiting, and no more constant worry. Her response, much like mine, was a poignant sigh, followed by “Oh, dear, I’ve been longing for that moment for so long now!

Janey expressed that it’s heart-wrenchingly difficult for her to be undergoing end-of-life care, and she found the treatment incredibly distressing. However, she also emphasized that eventually, everyone reaches their final moments.

She also sweetly gushed of Ashley: ‘She’s my big success in life and I’m dead proud of her. The worst thing about me dying is not being able to see her. I can’t imagine being a spirit and not having her in my orbit.’

I’m delighted to be part of the circle that includes Ashley, whom I’ve come to know through her wonderful partner, Sean Storrie. It was just a few weeks ago that we celebrated their remarkable 44-year marriage milestone together.

This past weekend, Janey posted a touching video of her meeting up again with her cherished sausage dog.

I’ve been sharing heartwarming photos of my beloved pet, Honey, on X, as she undergoes palliative care for cancer at the hospice.

According to the report by The Mirror, a joyful bark indicated that Janey’s dog leaped onto her bed upon recognizing its owner.

With a delightful burst of enthusiasm, the adorable dachshund, looking like a miniature sausage, appeared thrilled to reunite with the celebrity. It leaped exuberantly towards her.

Janey then wrapped up Honey in a green blanket as she settled her in her room.

The Glasgow-born comedian revealed she was getting ‘near the end’ of her terminal cancer battle in a heartbreaking update on her illness last month.

In a video posted on social media, the comedian informed her followers that she’s receiving comfort care for ovarian cancer and will be moving into a hospice facility.

In a heartfelt message to my cherished fans, I shared that the chemotherapy treatments had exhausted all available options, and, alas, I could no longer endure their harsh effects. Sadly, the cancer has expanded beyond what we had hoped for. This revelation was met with an overwhelming wave of affection and encouragement from each one of you.

It seems we’re approaching the conclusion, and discussing this topic can prove challenging for me.

I shared back in September that unavoidable circumstances due to my ongoing treatment have compelled me to call off my upcoming UK tour.

In the video, she went on to say: ‘Learning I’m nearing the end of my life is heartbreaking, yet we all reach our final moments eventually.’

I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been there for our family. Particularly, I’m indebted to Ashley and my husband for their unwavering support.

The immense backing I’ve received is truly astounding, and I’m unsure of when it might come to an end as people may start asking questions. I must clarify that I’m not a TikTok platform, but rather a text-based AI model.

Allow me to clarify that I truly value the affection and backing you’ve shown me. It’s a fact that cancer impacts about one out of every two individuals, and unfortunately, it has touched my life as well.

She also thanked charities who have supported her throughout her health journey.

Last week Janey revealed Liam Neeson had finally received the handmade scarf she promised she would knit him.

On Saturday, Janey posted pictures of Liam on Instagram, showing him wrapped up in a vibrant scarf. She captioned the post, “Liam Neeson’s new scarf has made its way to New York, and he can’t get enough of it!

In an open conversation during my BBC podcast, “The C Bomb,” I shared last March that I started crafting a scarf for Liam, as I learned he admired my voiceover performances.

She joked at the time: ‘He will need to get it before I die that’s for sure.’

Throughout the pandemic, Janey garnered widespread attention online due to her renditions of political speeches on television, such as those by Nicola Sturgeon and Boris Johnson.

Afterward, the star proceeded to narrate Liam’s iconic line from Taken, where he declares: “I possess a unique skillset. Your possession of my daughter triggers my pursuit.

He found pleasure in it and enjoyed it. Later, my friend told him, “She’s now doing freestyle knitting, which means she doesn’t use a pattern.

I can hardly believe it, but it’s as if I’ve spewed out a towering sundae of delight – a knickerbocker glory, no less! Yet, here I am, determinedly knitting him a scarf. It’s something he simply must have before my time runs out; there’s no doubt about that in my mind.

The star playfully remarked: ‘The good news is, when I pass away, I won’t have to mourn myself, since I’ll be gone. People might find a photo of me with a large scarf tied around my neck and think, “Ah, that’s the creepy scarf she knitted for him”.’

Seven months down the line, the scarf found its way to Liam, bringing him immense joy when he embraced the handmade piece with a warm kiss.
