Angela Moore talks the return of Bakta in FROM season 3

As a fan of horror series, I eagerly awaited the third season of FROM. The unique aspect of this show is that we, as viewers, learn alongside the characters, which intensifies the suspense. Angela Moore, who joined the cast during season 2 as Bakta, brings an intriguing character to life.

In the new season of FROM, we encounter yet another chilling mystery that unfolds layer by layer, keeping us guessing and on edge. The town’s secrets are gradually unveiled, mirroring our own journey for answers.

In the second season, Angela Moore made her appearance as Bakta. Initially portrayed as the town’s bus driver, she transported newcomers into the community. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, these individuals find themselves stranded instead. This unexpected development has raised concerns among the locals, as it implies they must provide for more mouths to feed now.

In this unique interview, we discover where Bakta appears in the third season of the MGM+ show. Actress Moore provides insights into her character, as well as revealing some inspirations that shaped this character on screen.

As a gamer, I myself only got hold of partial snippets of Bakta’s storyline, which was quite unfortunate. However, from what I gathered, Bakta had already been through her fair share of hardships before ending up in this peculiar town. It seemed as though this wasn’t just another hurdle she needed to overcome; it was the straw that broke the camel’s back. But she yearned for more than mere existence; she longed to thrive and return home. That, my friends, is the very essence of the struggle that befalls every adventurer who stumbles upon this place.>

Assistant: Is it fair for Bakta to feel guilty, given that he placed the bus passengers in such a predicament? What’s your take on that?

PM:Of course not, but if someone feels it’s their duty to look after others, they might experience guilt. In this case, she was the bus driver and her passengers were under her care. It’s expected of a driver to ensure safe travel, so when something unfortunate happens, it’s only normal for them to feel deeply sorry.

A: Does the strong, nurturing nature of Bakta’s character remind you of someone? Was there a specific person I drew inspiration from while creating this character?

AM: I thought of my mother. She always did her best to look out for her family. My uncle told me a story once about my mother riding the bus in England. She would carry an afro pick to protect herself and her brothers in case anyone got aggressive. I’m also very protective over my friends and family.  I really dislike confrontation myself but feel compelled to say something if I see others being hurt or mistreated.

One challenge for a horror TV series is maintaining consistent fear across each season. Could you give us a hint on how they’ve sustained that sense of terror from Season 3?

PM: I believe the townsfolk will encounter fresh apprehensions, and these fears may not always take the conventional form of typical terrors.

SS: Can you tease what’s to come for Bakta as she continues to fight to protect her people?

In the third season, I believe Bakta will show a new aspect of herself. While she certainly knows how to survive, there’s a gentler, caring side to her that I think we’ll get to see this time around.

SS: What can we do to push for more BIPOC representation on screen and behind the camera?

As a fan, I truly believe the key to crafting compelling stories lies in the hands of creators who can capture diverse perspectives. After all, we’re each unique individuals, and embracing our differences can only elevate the quality of storytelling. If you haven’t found your story yet, don’t hesitate! Pick up a pen, share your own narrative, and bring it to life!

FROM season 3 airs Sundays on MGM+.
