As a seasoned audiobook enthusiast who has navigated countless hours of literary escapades through headphones, I must admit my excitement is palpable about the upcoming adaptation of Agatha Christie’s “The Mysterious Affair at Styles.” With a star-studded cast featuring Peter Dinklage as Hercule Poirot and Harriet Walter as Emily Inglethorp, it promises to be an unparalleled listening experience.
Agatha Christie is renowned as one of the most widely read and successful authors in literary history, known for her captivating mysteries. In these stories, a group of elegantly dressed individuals gather at a countryside mansion, luxury yacht, lavish train, or similar setting; someone meets an untimely demise, and the enigmatic detective Hercule Poirot arrives to solve the case. The audiobook platform Audible is reintroducing Christie’s debut novel — The Mysterious Affair at Styles — featuring Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) portraying the iconic fictional detective.

In a fresh take on “The Mysterious Affair at Styles”, the upcoming audio edition incorporates Dolby Atmos sound effects and an original score by Johnny Flynn. That sounds impressive, but I dunno: it’s still a recording where actors read lines from a book. Audible called it an “immersive audio drama” in Variety, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with just being a “good audiobook.”
On November 14, the audiobook adaptation of The Mysterious Affair at Styles will be released under whatever title you prefer, on Audible.
