Loose Women star confirms break as she shares emotional health update
As a long-time fan of Janet Street-Porter and her fearless, no-nonsense approach to life, I’ve always admired her resilience and zest for adventure. However, hearing about her upcoming hip replacement operation has me feeling a mix of emotions – empathy, concern, and a touch of humor, of course!
As a gamer, I’m stepping away for a bit from my favorite game (ITV show) because I need some time to recuperate after getting a new hip. It’s all good though, Janet Street-Porter, one of the stars on Loose Women, is doing the same. Let’s hope we can both get back to playing soon!
Janet, who serves as a panelist on the talk show “Loose Women” since 2011, revealed the news during today’s episode (October 2nd). She confessed to feeling anxious and exposed in anticipation of her surgery scheduled for this coming Friday (October 4th).
Wow, this coming Friday is when I’ll finally have my hip replacement surgery. It’s all I can focus on right now,” she confided.
Janet went on to say: “Right now, I’m feeling quite shaky and my hands are ice-cold. I can’t seem to stop trembling. My mind is filled with recurring dreams about it.
“If they were to disassemble me, what would be revealed inside? What happens if they can’t put the pieces back together afterwards?
The television personality clarified that she needs to remain in the hospital for several days following surgery, after which she will return home to carry on with her healing process.
During her absence from the show, she plans to focus intensely on her recovery through rehabilitation and physical therapy sessions. Her aim is to get back to work quickly.
She admitted, “I find myself in a weak position, and truth be told, I’m responsible for this predicament. They advised me back in March to take care of it, but I kept putting it off, postponing again and again.
Over the weekend, I received a shipment of winter veggies and greens, and despite my partner’s stern warnings against it, “Don’t plant those!”, I found myself sprawled out on the ground, tenderly nestling tiny parsnips and other goodies into their new homes.
On Sunday morning, I found myself completely immobile. I couldn’t budge from my spot. Unfortunately, this inactivity has aggravated the other side of my back, causing me to spend the next two days in a prone position.
She added: “It’s brought home to me that, you know, I’ve let myself get too weak and I’ve never been like this in my life before, so it’s just so irritating.”
Loose Women airs on weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
