As a dedicated follower of Hollywood’s dynamic duos, I find myself captivated by the enchanting journey of Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix, popularly known as Julia and Arthur Fleck/Joker. Their lives, though vastly different, have intertwined in an intriguing dance of darkness and light.

Rooney Mara, who hasn’t been seen often with her partner Joaquin Phoenix since 2019, attended a special screening of his new film “Joker: Folie à Deux” at the iconic TCL Chinese Theater on Monday evening.

The actress, aged 39 and rumored to have adopted the name Phoenix in 2020, chose not to strike a pose on the red carpet alongside the 49-year-old Academy Award recipient. However, she did express her backing for his undertaking in another way.

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’m thrilled to share that I recently expanded my family by welcoming my second bundle of joy in June. Postpartum, I opted for a chic multi-strap black tea-length dress and ankle strap pumps, stylishly handpicked by the talented Ryan Hastings, to embrace my new mommy figure with grace and elegance.

Hair stylist Adir Abergel styled Mara’s center-parted chignon, while makeup artist Kate Lee accentuated her eyebrows, emphasized her blue eyes, and added a touch of lip color to her.

Joaquin, regularly attended by groomer Carlos Ferraz, sported a sharp look in a timeless black suit, tie, and shiny leather Oxfords, complemented by stylish $385 Garrett Leight ‘Ace Sun’ sunglasses.

Phoenix (formerly known as Bottom) and the two-time Oscar nominee are also parents to a four-year-old named River Mara Phoenix, whose name honors Joaquin’s late older brother, who passed away at the age of 23 from an overdose of morphine and cocaine on Halloween in 1993.

Rooney expressed her deep affection for motherhood, stating that she adores it immensely and considers it to be absolutely extraordinary, during her conversation on the LaunchLeft Podcast last year.

This living arrangement seems more like a solo artist’s abode rather than a duo’s, given that I’ve only held a job intermittently during our relationship, which spans nearly four years. In essence, I’ve been employed full-time for just one or two brief periods, and one of those instances was quite minor and short-lived. It has an artistic vibe here, as we frequently engage in discussions about creative endeavors.

In 2012, Phoenixes first crossed paths while portraying romantic characters Theodore Twombly and Catherine Klausen on the LA set of Spike Jonze’s movie Her. However, they didn’t begin their relationship until after her separation from director Charlie McDowell, which occurred in 2016.

Together, the acting duo subsequently appeared in Garth Davis’ 2018 biblical drama ‘Mary Magdalene’ and Gus Van Sant’s 2018 comedy titled ‘Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Very Far Ahead’.

Additionally, Rooney and Joaquin served as both narrators and producers for Chris Delforce’s vegan documentary Dominion in 2018, Alex Lockwood’s 2022 pandemic documentary The End of Medicine, and Jonah Hill’s 2022 therapy documentary Stutz.

Mara informed Deadline back in February that she and the producer-actor of Napoleon are still fully dedicated to appearing together in Pawel Pawlikowski’s future project, “The Island.” However, it seems unlikely that they will be able to do so this year.

Kick things off by finding me on the big screen as character Julia, a waitress hailing from New York City, in Alonso Ruizpalacios’ captivating kitchen drama set in Times Square, titled “La Cocina. This tantalizing tale unfolds in select US theaters starting October 25 and graces UK screens on December 26.

In the meantime, the Grammy-winning actor is set to earn a $20 million paycheck by returning to his Academy Award-winning character, Arthur Fleck/Joker, in Todd Phillips’ upcoming sequel titled “Joker: Madness Duet.” This film, with a production budget of $190 million, will premiere in theaters across the US and UK this coming Friday.

On Tuesday, it was predicted that the 138-minute twisted musical would generate approximately $140 million globally during its first weekend in theaters, with earnings of around $55 to $60 million coming from 4K cinemas within the U.S.

Additionally, it stars Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.

So far, the Joker sequel, “Folie à Deux,” is receiving positive feedback from critics with an approval rating of 60%, based on 58 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

In 2019, the initial movie released in 1981 titled “Joker” broke records by becoming the top-earning R-rated film ever, raking in a staggering $1.079 billion worldwide, even with varying critic responses.
