Katy Perry shares behind-the-scenes look at her incredible makeup transformation from bare-faced to full glam for AFL Grand Final performance
As a lifestyle expert with over two decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that Katy Perry’s performance at the AFL Grand Final was nothing short of spectacular. Her flawless makeup and futuristic ensemble were just the beginning; her energy and charisma on stage were truly captivating.
Katy Perry put on quite the performance at the MCG in Melbourne on Saturday during her AFL Grand Final show.
The popular singer, aged 39, offered a peek into her preparation routine before hitting the stage, showcasing an impeccable makeup style.
In a TikTok video, Katy showed her unadorned self first, then revealed her polished, on-camera look to her followers.
‘Getting gorg for the @afl Grand Final’ she wrote in her caption alongside the short video.
One supporter expressed, ‘Australia adores you for a lifetime!’, while another enthusiastically added, ‘Simply stunning!’ or ‘Absolutely gorgeous!’
‘Looking absolutely stunning queen’ said another with someone else saying, ‘SO SO SO BEAUTIFUL’.
Katy later stormed the stage for a short but thrilling set with her futuristic ensemble complete.
In Perry’s 20-minute performance at the AFL Grand Final, she showcased not one but two songs from her recent album titled 143 – Lifetimes and Gorgeous, which is a collaboration with Kim Petras. This came after rumors that AFL officials had limited her to only one new song for the event.
Incorporating the fresh tunes seamlessly, it was actually her well-known tracks like Roar, Teenage Dreams, Dark Horse, and Firework that ignited the crowd’s enthusiasm, with Katy starting off by performing a rendition of Roar.
Katy also sang a version of “I Kissed A Girl” alongside Tina Arena, and afterwards, they performed a version of one of Tina’s popular hits, “Chains.
However, her selection of songs took everyone by surprise since she didn’t perform “Hot n Cold,” a song widely associated with MasterChef Australia and humorously considered by some as Australia’s unofficial national anthem.
It is said that one of the world’s famous rock groups declined a staggering $20 million offer to perform as the pre-show act for the AFL Grand Final.
Instead, event organizers opted for pop sensation Perry, who received $5 million for delivering an extraordinary show at the MCG on Saturday night.
The leaders of the Australian Football League (AFL) were reportedly eager to book The Rolling Stones, featuring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood, for the much desired main performance spot.
The legendary musicians, fresh from a triumphant U.S. tour for their new album “Hackney Diamonds”, would have been an ideal performer at the AFL Grand Final.
As a devoted follower, I found myself facing an impasse during negotiations, as it seemed the AFL had reservations about the high cost associated with my short, 20-minute main performance.
Ultimately, the choice resulted in a significant cost reduction of around $15 million for organizers, since Perry’s contract was stated to be worth only $5 million. However, Australians were taken aback by the substantial amount Perry was paid.
