Snowpiercer Season 4 finale explained: Did Nima succeed in his plan?

As a gamer who has spent countless hours navigating post-apocalyptic worlds, I can confidently say that the finale of Snowpiercer was a rollercoaster ride that kept me on the edge of my seat. The tension between Nima and the Tailies felt like a classic cat-and-mouse game, with each side trying to outsmart the other.

In the final episode of Snowpiercer, it was clear that Nima’s sole aim was to ignite his rocket. Did he manage to do so?

Caution: This post contains SPOILERS for Snowpiercer Season 4, Episode 10

The final episode of “Snowpiercer” Season 4 began by hinting at a return to the series’ origins, as Layton and several other Tailies found themselves once more stationed at the rear of the train, determined to advance. There were echoes of the past in the air, with the faint sound of “one train” chants resonating as they moved through the carriages.

As a gamer, I and my Animal Squad were a tad more prepped than Melanie for the Tailies. We had the sleeper agent’s gas canisters primed to explode when needed. It didn’t take long for Josie and Oz to brainstorm a strategy to leverage this gas, helping us all board the train swiftly.

What happened to Ruth after she was taken in the Snowpiercer Season 4 finale?

As a gamer, I found myself in a tricky spot early on during our skirmish, with me, Ruth, and the team, taking a beating. But then came an intriguing proposition from Nima – he’d let us transport Big Alice back to New Eden if it meant keeping our lives going. However, there was a catch: Nima needed Snowpiercer and a couple of trains to monitor his rocket’s progress.

At this stage, we discovered that Big Alice was no longer functional due to its broken engine, yet there was a poignant recollection of Ben’s selfless act. Nima and his Animal Squad swiftly reconfigured Big Alice into little more than an empty husk. It was heart-wrenching to see Alex struggling to adapt to the circumstances, but eventually accepting that it was hopeless. However, Ruth remained unaware of this turn of events.

Ruth has a knack for understanding others; she discerned that Nima was unsure about his rocket’s functionality, which is why he desired Snowpiercer. Consequently, when the Tailies approached her, she communicated strongly to her people the necessity of resisting. They needed to halt that rocket.

Melanie and Alex work on destroying the rocket

After reuniting on the train, Melanie and Alex manage to make their way to the rocket, allowing them a chance to prepare the chemical for deployment. Meanwhile, Javi successfully interferes with Nima’s remote launch mechanism for the rocket, necessitating his ascent to the rocket to free it.

Upon arriving, Nima notices an issue at hand. Swiftly, he manages to rally Melanie and Alex to reinject gas into the rocket. Ingeniously quick-witted, Alex removes a portion of the hinge from the hatch lock.

As Melanie presents her idea that Nima was solely responsible for initiating the rocket launch which resulted in the world freezing initially, she successfully makes him understand that his mathematical computations contain errors. Unfortunately, she can’t prevent him from launching the rocket anymore, as it has already been set in motion.

Nima had activated the timer, initiating a process that couldn’t be reversed, leading to the rocket’s inevitable launch. As the hatch above them opened, Melanie and Alex quickly exited, leaving Nima exposed to the frigid conditions which proved fatal. With the rocket blasting off, it seemed like the world was on the brink of destruction.

Alex’s strategy proved successful. The hatch sprung open, the Gemini module within the rocket froze, causing it to plummet back to Earth with a loud impact. It wasn’t launched into the sky, implying that the impending doom we had been fearing was avoided.

How long will New Eden last in the Snowpiercer series finale?

In the end, residents from New Eden and Snowpiercer, along with some members of the Animal Squad, embark on a new chapter in life within New Eden. Alex ponders their duration, but Melanie reminds them that tomorrow’s existence is never certain. They must make use of what they currently possess.

At long last, there seems to be a glimmer of optimism. There’s evidence of budding vegetation appearing, which could indicate that the Earth is thawing out. Given Alex’s earlier explanation about the global freeze wiping out plants and animals, this development is quite promising. It suggests that the planet might be warming up once more, offering renewed hope for humanity.

As a dedicated fan, I must express my appreciation for the fact that Snowpiercer didn’t end up annihilating a large number of its characters in the series finale. The only significant loss was Nima. Layton and others made every effort to spare the lives of the Animal Squad as much as feasible. Even Josie came to understand that taking out Headwood was a mistake, given that Headwood was more distraught about losing her husband’s boots than the act of dying itself.
