Game of Thrones vet Emilia Clarke will uncover a Cold War conspiracy in new spy show PONIES
As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and real-life dramas, I must say, the announcement of Emilia Clarke’s new project, “PONIES,” has piqued my curiosity to no end! Having been captivated by her powerful portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement for this upcoming espionage drama.
Actress Emilia Clarke, well-known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen (the Mother of Dragons) from the popular HBO series Game of Thrones, is set to debut a new project: PONIES, an espionage drama set in the 1970s that will be streaming on Peacock. Besides starring in the show, Clarke will also serve as one of its executive producers.
You might wonder what the term “PONIES” signifies in this context. In actuality, it’s a secret agent slang for “persons of no interest.” As depicted in the series, Clark will portray Bea, a character who is an “over-educated child of Soviet immigrants,” fluent in Russian, and working as a secretary at the American Embassy. She has a companion named Twila, a character not yet cast, described as a small-town girl who is both abrasive and fearless. Both their spouses back in the USSR have met with mysterious ends. The task of uncovering these murders falls upon Bea and Twila themselves. They soon turn into CIA agents, and rest assured they’re going to shake up the entire Cold War!
The television series titled “PONIES” was brought to life by Susanna Fogel (known for “The Flight Attendant”) and David Iserson (known for “Mr. Robot”). They will be contributing as writers, with Fogel taking on the role of director, while Iserson will assume the position of showrunner. As previously mentioned, Clarke is set to serve as an executive producer, suggesting that she may have a more significant influence on the creative direction of this series compared to her earlier roles like in “Game of Thrones,” which was one of her initial professional ventures after completing university.
As for now, there isn’t a scheduled release date for the show named “PONIES “, but it seems promising. Clark’s latest significant role was portraying G’iah in “Secret Invasion“, which has been criticized as one of Marvel’s weakest shows to date. Here’s hoping she receives better scripts for her character in “PONIES“. This time, she will have the opportunity to ensure it turns out well.
