Nick Grimshaw gives an update as he returns to BBC radio after he and his mother, 81, were gassed by criminal gang in Ibiza

On Monday, Nick Grimshaw shared a fresh update upon resuming his duties at BBC Radio 6 Music following his harrowing vacation in Ibiza.
Last week, during a break-in at their vacation rental on the island, the presenter and his 81-year-old mother tragically lost their lives due to gas while they were asleep, as reported by TopMob earlier.
On Nick’s 40th birthday, he was enjoying a family celebration when the villa they were staying at became the latest target of a criminal gang, which had previously targeted several villas inhabited by affluent travelers over the past year.
On Sunday, he posted a picture on Instagram with his dog, captioned: “Wishing you a joyful holiday weekend from me and Blob.”

Nick and his mother, Eileen, were rendered unconscious as a result of a sedative gas being released into their home while they slept. After ensuring the gas had worked, the gang entered the property dressed in protective hazmat suits and proceeded to search the villa thoroughly.
In the incident, no one was reported as injured, but it’s assumed that some property might have been taken during the raid.
According to a source, the gang might not have recognized Nick, but they were aware that the villa was on their hit list because it was commonly used by wealthy individuals.
“Unfortunately, I found myself in an unfavorable situation, and it was truly terrifying.”
‘Nick was obviously upset but thought best to keep things off social media.’
The previous week, Nick had been spotted in Ibiza, spending an evening out with his niece Liv and his future brother-in-law Mesh Henry. They were seen enjoying some ice cream together.
Since then, it’s come to light that Nick’s villa was included on the hit list of a group using sedative gas. It is believed this group has executed similar crimes by releasing sedative gas into properties before entering dressed in hazmat suits.
Many other famous personalities have reported experiencing similar incidents in the past, including Richard Hammond and Jenson Button, who have shared their experiences publicly.
In 2018, while asleep at their Saint Tropez villa, former Top Gear host Richard and his wife Mindy were both subjected to gas before a burglary occurred.
15 more individuals, including Richard and Mindy, were the victims of a surprise attack by looters who employed a sedative gas to render them unconscious, enabling them to search the rooms for money and valuables.
In the year 2015, Jenson and his former wife Jessica were socializing with friends in St Tropez when burglars broke into their residence and made off with items valued at approximately £300,000. Among the stolen goods was Jessica’s engagement ring, estimated to be worth around £250,000.
The Formula One driver, who was 35 at the time, and his wife were suspected of having been rendered unconscious due to a gas that allegedly seeped into their home via the air conditioning systems.
A source close to Button said the Grand Prix star was ‘convinced’ that’s what happened.
They mentioned that Button and his companions remained undisturbed throughout the search because the burglars had unchecked control due to the gas. (or) The burglars acted freely without interference since Button and his friends were unaffected by the gas during the raid.
