Viewers of Adrian Dunbar’s detective series, Ridley, will be disappointed to learn that ITV has cancelled the show. The series, which ran for two seasons from 2022 to 2025, featured Dunbar as Alex Ridley, a former detective brought back as a consultant on a new murder case by his former student, DI Carol Farman, played by Bronagh Waugh.
ITV has cancelled Ridley after two seasons, according to Radio Times. A spokesperson confirmed there are no plans for a third season.
I just want to say how much I appreciate Paul Matthew Thompson, the creator and writer, and Jonathan Fisher, the executive producer, along with everyone at West Road Pictures. They really knocked it out of the park with two amazing series, and I’m so grateful for all their hard work!

Talking about the character, Dunbar described Ridley as complex and very different from roles he’s played previously, despite sharing a physical resemblance and some similarities to his famous character, Ted Hastings, due to Ridley also being a police officer.
Honestly, what really grabbed me about this character was how complex he is. There’s just so much to unpack – his past, everything he’s been through, and all the different places and problems he faces. It’s those layers of complication that I found so fascinating.

Although fans of Ridley may be disappointed, those who enjoy Line of Duty have received good news: Adrian Dunbar will return as Ted Hastings for a seventh season, with filming starting this month in Belfast.
Vicky McClure will also return as Kate Fleming, while Martin Compston is back as Steve Arnott.

Jed Mercurio, the creator, writer, and executive producer of Line of Duty, expressed his and the team’s deep appreciation for the show’s loyal viewers.
We’re thrilled so many of you have watched AC-12’s story unfold over the past six seasons, and we’re excited to be back for a seventh. Apparently, corruption in the country was supposed to have stopped while Line of Duty wasn’t on the air, so I’ve had to get creative with new cases!
Seasons 1-2 of Ridley are available to stream on ITVX.
Okay, so the latest issue of Living Legends magazine just dropped, and it’s completely dedicated to Harry Styles! It’s a huge 100-page, full-color spread – seriously, it looks amazing. You can grab a copy at most newsstands or order it online if you want to check it out.
