NASCAR: The fan-favorite drink powering Corey LaJoie to a possible 'huge upset'

As a long-time NASCAR enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement when I see Corey LaJoie‘s No. 7 Chevrolet decked out with CELSIUS logos this Saturday at Daytona International Speedway! The energy drink has been a faithful companion to many dedicated drivers and fans like us, offering that much-needed boost on race day.

For quite some time now, CELSIUS has been associated with various tiers of NASCAR racing, such as the Cup Series. Throughout this period, they’ve collaborated with numerous drivers and teams in their journey.

The energy drink, which features healthy-energy formulas clinically proven to deliver significant health benefits to dedicated consumers and race car drivers, currently has a multi-race primary sponsorship deal in place with Spire Motorsports’ Corey LaJoie for the 2024 season.

The number 7 Chevrolet driven by LaJoie will be backed by the brand during the Coke Zero Sugar 400 race taking place this coming Saturday evening at Daytona International Speedway.

He spoke to Beyond the Flag about how the partnership came about and how CELSIUS has helped him get to where he is in his NASCAR career.

LaJoie stated that the situation with CELSIUS was similar to the idiom “the squeaky wheel gets the grease.” This is because CELSIUS had tried various teams, but hadn’t consistently supported a driver in the Cup Series who could effectively promote their brand.

Following my encounter with Bryan Alesiano and John Fieldy, I managed to keep them quite busy. I am confident that I will represent the brand effectively, putting cans into people’s hands, and serving as an inspiring example during a Sunday afternoon in the Cup Series of what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. Our relationship has been truly rewarding.

“For quite some time now, they’ve played a significant role in my career advancement and have supported my charity event, the Kickball Classic, where they even serve as the main sponsor. We’ve shared many enjoyable moments with them, and I look forward to strengthening this bond for many more years.”

As a seasoned gamer myself, I’d already known and appreciated the CELSIUS brand before our partnership. This prior connection undoubtedly boosted my credibility when I was chosen as their official ambassador.

He acknowledged that he wasn’t particularly fond of sodas, in fact, he doesn’t consume them at all. Similarly, he’s not a big fan of energy drinks either, but on occasion, he found himself drawn to possibly B.J. McLeod’s hauler.

“He would have a little CELSIUS cooler outside the back of his hauler, and every Sunday I’d go grab one, just get a little bump of 200 milligrams of caffeine to get me going, and CELSIUS was the only energy drink that I had any interest in drinking, just because the vitamins B and C and no sugar. All that sort of stuff kind of fits into how I try to eat and how I try to live.”

He doesn’t drink it every day, but he uses it regularly, particularly as a part of his training routine.

“LaJoie added, ‘Not every day, but most days, I partake in it.’ To be more specific, ‘I don’t have it daily, but at least five times a week, I’m enjoying it.’ Right now, I’m savoring a can, of course, a can of Grape Rush. Interestingly enough, this one has managed to climb its way up, unnoticed, to the top spot on my flavor preference list. Previously, I was a fan of Oasis Vibe, but let me tell you, those Grape Rushes, man, they’re surprisingly delicious.”

“But yeah, at least every Sunday I’m drinking one for sure, and then about every 2:00 when I need a little pick-me-up. They sent me a nice standup fridge too, stock full. I snag one out of there and keep it moving.”

There’s quite a variety of CELSIUS flavors at hand, with new ones frequently joining the roster. So far, LaJoie hasn’t been able to sample them all yet, but he’s making progress, and he’s compiled a shortlist of his current favorite three.

“He mentioned there are numerous flavor options available. His preference leans towards the bubbly varieties rather than the non-carbonated ones. He’s sampled most of them and his favorite three would be Grape Rush, Strawberry Lemonade, and Oasis Vibe – it has a hint of prickly pear flavor.”

He’s excited to embody the brand during the upcoming weekend at Daytona, as five of his top 10 finishes throughout his career, including a career-matching fourth place finish in this year’s Daytona 500, the season opener, were achieved there.

A win would be the first of his career and lock him into the 16-driver playoff field for the first time.

Over the weekend at Daytona, they will be racing their powerful cars, he stated. I really hope they make it to Victory Lane. That would be quite an unexpected win, and it would also secure our place in the playoffs, so it’s a big deal! It would definitely be a great celebration as well.

Tune in to NBC this coming Saturday, August 24th at 7:00 p.m. ET as they broadcast the Coke Zero Sugar 400 live from Daytona International Speedway. Don’t forget to catch all the excitement by signing up for a free trial of FuboTV today!
