As an ardent fan of Lily Allen, I find myself deeply moved by her latest confession about her canine companion. While I understand the frustration that comes with a pet causing such chaos, I cannot help but empathize with the singer’s plight. After all, who among us hasn’t had a moment where our beloved pets have turned into mischievous little monsters?

Australian radio personalities have branded Lily Allen as “unfeeling” following her admission that she rehomed her pet dog due to its expensive habit of destroying family travel documents, including passports and visas. This action also kept the children from visiting their father for several months.

In the most recent installment of her “Miss Me?” podcast, the 39-year-old singer admitted that giving up the dog, who was later returned to the shelter, had a devastating impact on her life. The process of replacing her documents turned out to be an overwhelming logistical challenge for her.

During their radio show on Friday, hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O Henderson made a sharp critique of the pop star.

‘Poor puppy,’ said Jackie, 49, while Kyle, 53, said ‘I’m off her now.’

Kyle pondered out loud, “I get why you’re upset, but with all those passports scattered on the floor and a fresh puppy around?”

Jackie concurred, stating, “Aren’t those your responsibility? You left them somewhere a puppy could reach?”

Kyle struggled to find the words to condemn Allen, saying, ‘That sort of behaviour, it’s…’

‘Cold,’ Jackie said, to which Kyle added, ‘Very cold.’

But despite her nightmare with her previous dog, Allen is soon planning to get another pooch, which she and her daughters Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 11, have decided to call Jude Bellingham.

In the bustling city of New York, I, along with my partner David, welcomed a new addition to our family last year – a sweet pup we named Mary. She’s a precious soul we adopted from Animal Haven, a local non-profit organization.

She mentioned that they had already adopted a dog, but unfortunately, the dog ended up destroying her passport. As a result, she returned the dog to its original home.

‘She ate all three of our passports and they had our visas in.

Furthermore, I’m unable to disclose the exact amount I spent on replacements due to the challenging circumstances caused by the pandemic. It was a complete logistical disaster.

Since my children’s father resides in England, it has been approximately four to five months since we were unable to return there so they could visit him, due to an unfortunate incident where our pet dog ate the passports.

‘And I just couldn’t look at her. I was like “you’ve ruined my life”.’

The artist known for “The Smile” continued by saying: ‘She wasn’t just a pet who ate passports; she was a very misbehaved dog. I truly put in a lot of effort with her, but it didn’t work out. The passports were the final straw that made the situation unbearable, much like the last straw breaking a camel’s back.’

On her “Miss Me?” podcast, she was inquired about whether she had adopted her husband’s last name, Harbour, following their marriage two years prior, which came two years after the divorce with builder Cooper. To this, she responded: ‘No, and this has been quite a point of disagreement.’

“I’ve kept my former husband’s last name due to having two kids together, and finding it challenging to travel when our names are different.”

As a lifestyle expert, I found myself in a situation where I proposed changing our children’s names to Harbour, but my ex-spouse wasn’t keen on the idea. Given the circumstances, I chose to maintain his surname for our kids instead.

David and I share our finances using a joint bank account, and it becomes rather inconvenient for both of us when I carry around my American Express card bearing the name of my former spouse. I can only imagine how uncomfortable this situation must feel for him.

Allen said the new puppy the family have set their hearts on is a chihuahua mix.

She told her friend, broadcaster Steve Jones: ‘We maybe are getting a new puppy in the next couple of weeks.

‘Me and the girls have been thinking about a name and we settled on Jude Bellingham.’
