Demi Lovato and Camp Rock co-star Alyson Stoner reveal how they ended their feud for Child Star documentary
In reflecting upon Demi Lovato’s life and career journey, I find myself deeply moved by her resilience and raw honesty. This young woman has weathered storms that would have sunk many sailors, and yet she persists, sharing her story with a courage that is both inspiring and heartbreaking.
In simpler terms, Demi Lovato and Alyson Stoner, who previously starred together at Camp Rock, have shared the story of how they resolved their past differences for their forthcoming documentary titled “Child Star.”
At the tender age of eight, Demi secured her first major role on Barney & Friends, which paved the way for her to become well-known as a Disney Channel personality not long after.
Over the course of maturing into a renowned figure, she confronted a variety of personal struggles, such as bulimia, substance misuse, and bipolar condition.
Currently, she’s stepping into the director’s chair for the first time with the project “Child Star”. She’ll be conducting interviews with well-known personalities such as Drew Barrymore, JoJo Siwa, Christina Ricci and others, delving into their experiences of growing up in the limelight.
She even arranged an on-camera conversation with Alyson – but the pair had to settle a longstanding rift first, they told The Hollywood Reporter.
The interview was accompanied by a sultry photo-shoot starring Demi, who bared her cleavage on the cover of the magazine.
Demi, utilizing both “she” and “they” pronouns, showcased a series of alluring, revealing ensembles, exuding the mysterious charm of a femme fatale.
Among her standout styles, there was a striking pantsuit with pin stripes, which she paired without a blouse, thus revealing her black undergarment to the camera lens.
During the interview, she reminisced about the obstacles she faced with Alyson in their relationship, as well as the way they managed to resolve those issues.
When the Disney Channel premiered Camp Rock back in 2008, both Demi and Alyson were just 15 and 14 years old respectively. They shared the screen with the Jonas Brothers in this popular movie.
Two years passed, and they came together again for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. However, during this collaboration, Alyson found it challenging to work harmoniously with Demi.

During their concert tour promoting Camp Rock 2, their relationship deteriorated further, leading them to avoid contact for several years.
In the process of creating her latest documentary, Demi chose to connect with Alyson, who identifies as nonbinary and prefers using ‘they’ pronouns.
To persuade Alyson, Demi needed to convince her that she’d evolved significantly throughout the years, only then could Alyson consent to participate in the interview for the project.
She and Alyson sat down for an off-camera conversation that the latter described as ‘healing’ before the taped interview took place.
Apart from her other concerns, Alyson felt uneasy because she believed the project might end up becoming just another tabloid-style story on E!, feeding into a pattern she calls the “from toddler to trainwreck trajectory.”
Demi successfully calmed those concerns, and she then joined Alyson for an open, heartfelt discussion on the hardships faced during childhood fame.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that sentence like this: When we, Alyson and I (Demi), discovered our images were manipulated in magazines before we reached legal age, our responses to the situation differed significantly.
Additionally, they recalled needing to maintain a strictly brand-compliant image, similar to those on the Disney Channel, which contrasted with the more rebellious personalities on Nickelodeon that Demi envied due to their permissive attitude towards mild mischief.
Demi clarified that her difficult phase, stemming from her traumatic childhood fame, was a significant factor behind her challenging behavior while filming Camp Rock 2.
She mentioned that she often ponders over the individuals working in the wardrobe department of her TV series since she frequently found myself in a bad mood and entered there frequently. Additionally, she expressed concerns about guest stars who appeared, as well as other actors or crew members, particularly during the filming of Camp Rock 2.
Additionally, it’s understandable to overlook such actions given my youth and the immense suffering I experienced at the time. However, I harbor a deep sense of regret, a feeling of guilt that lingers perpetually within me.
Demi’s recent comments about her movie follow the announcement of JoJo Siwa, Drew Barrymore, Kenan Thompson, and Raven-Symoné as upcoming interviewees for the Child Star series.
Additionally, it was revealed that the documentary is scheduled to debut on Hulu on September 17th, with a runtime of approximately 90 minutes.
15-year-old Demi had already gained stardom on Disney Channel through their sitcom “As The Bell Rings,” which aired from 2007 to 2008, before the debut of “Camp Rock.”
Over time, she moved into a more prominent position in the pop music world, but as she advanced in age, her private struggles started gaining public attention.
In the past, Demi openly shared her experiences of trying various drugs, which started during her preteen years following a car accident that led to her being given prescription opioids.

But then came the moment of truth, a moment that left an indelible mark on Call Her Daddy, where I bravely admitted to experimenting with cocaine.
2018 saw her admitted to the hospital following a severe heroin overdose which led to three strokes, a heart attack, and enduring brain injury.
Three years back, she drew controversy by labeling herself as “California sober,” a term indicating she continued using cannabis, but later admitted she had stopped using it too.
She has also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and suffered from bulimia, binging and purging to the point she once found herself vomiting blood.
Last year, Demi, who identifies as nonbinary and prefers the use of both “she” and “they” pronouns, unveiled plans for their documentary about being a child star.
