Morgan Wallen’s court date over chair-throwing incident delayed to December

Morgan Wallen’s recent legal troubles are certainly not the first time an artist has found themselves in hot water. However, the circumstances surrounding this incident, including the high stakes and potential consequences, have made it stand out among others.

As a devoted fan, I’ve got some news to share – the court date for Morgan Wallen’s much-anticipated hearing has been postponed once more. Originally slated for this Thursday in Nashville, the proceedings related to his felony charge, arising from an altercation involving a rooftop chair back in April, have now been moved to December 12th, as per court documents.

The musician famous for “Whiskey Glasses” was apprehended in April on allegations that he hurled a chair from the rooftop of a six-story Nashville bar, an act which could potentially harm others. Currently, he is still dealing with three felony charges of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. The incident transpired at Chief’s, a bar co-owned by his fellow artist and collaborator on “Man Made a Bar,” Eric Church.

Onlookers informed police that they observed Wallen grab a chair, hurl it off the roof, and appear amused by his action, as stated in an arrest affidavit acquired by the Associated Press. The chair that Wallen is said to have thrown landed approximately three feet away from two Metro Nashville Police officers. These officers spoke with witnesses and examined security footage of the incident to gather more information.

In May, the 31-year-old vocalist chose not to attend a court hearing for a settlement, yet neither a resolution nor his appearance were disclosed. His legal representative stated that he would be present in the subsequent session, which was originally set for Thursday, according to Billboard.

Despite facing accusations, the prominent figure hasn’t made any formal pleas as of now. A few weeks following his arrest, though, he shared on Twitter that he feels “unfortunate” about his actions.

In his post on X (previously known as Twitter), dated April 19th, Wallen expressed that he didn’t feel comfortable checking in publicly until he had reconciled with certain individuals. He has reached out to the police department in Nashville, his family, and the staff at Chief’s. He is not proud of his actions and takes full responsibility for them. Wallen also emphasized his deep respect for the officers who work tirelessly to ensure our safety every day.

Following his detention, Wallen continued with his One Night at a Time stadium tour, inspired by his “One Thing at a Time” album, the best-selling album in the U.S. last year. He assured fans that the recent incident would not impact any forthcoming performances. Later this month, he is set to travel to Sweden to initiate the European segment of the tour, which temporarily slowed down over the summer due to an illness.
