ADA Users Beware: Fake Cardano Wallet Updates Spread Malware!

Security Alert: <a href="https://bbg-news.com/ada-usd/">ADA</a> Users Targeted by Fake <a href="https://thbusd.com/ada-usd/">Cardano</a> Wallet Updates With Malware

The Cardano Web3 wallet, Lace, recently warned the crypto community about a scam. They’ve identified a fake website – lacedesktop.io – that’s pretending to be the official Lace website, and are urging users to be careful.

The Cardano community has been alerted to phishing emails related to “Lace Desktop 2.0.” These emails are part of a scam where criminals disguise themselves as trustworthy entities to trick people into giving away personal information.

Beware of a scam! There’s a fake website at lacedesktop.io and phishing emails referencing “Lace Desktop 2.0.” Remember, we will *never* ask for your recovery phrase or private keys. For safety, please only use our official channels.

In my research, I’ve found that phishing usually happens through emails. These emails often contain dangerous links or attachments. If someone clicks on these, it can either install harmful software on their computer or redirect them to fake websites that are designed to steal their personal details, like usernames, passwords, and financial information.

Midnight approaches mainnet launch

The privacy-focused Cardano network, Midnight, is expected to go live on the main network, potentially as early as this week. Cardano’s creator, Charles Hoskinson, announced this in a recent video, hinting at a launch within the week.

Midnight will begin with a limited launch, initially run by a few trusted partners to ensure stability. Full decentralization will follow once the network is established.

Hoskinson emphasized the progress made with Midnight, noting that it’s already functioning with several key components: Kacina, Plunk, Halo 2, and Compact. He expressed particular excitement about how much has already been accomplished.

This release marks the launch of the federated mainnet, and for the first time, Zcash users will have access to smart contracts – a feature that’s been anticipated for quite some time, according to the Cardano founder.

According to Hoskinson, the Midnight project began over eight years ago. After two years of research and development, the team moved into full-scale construction, spending the last six years tirelessly building and refining the platform.
