Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 gets exciting update from star Matthew Lillard
As a die-hard fan of horror movies, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming sequel to “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” Having grown up on classics like “Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Friday the 13th,” the thrill of watching characters navigate through terrifying scenarios never fades.
Actor Matthew Lillard, who plays a role in the popular series Five Nights at Freddy’s, shared some thrilling news about the upcoming sequel to enthusiasts.
On a YouTube channel resembling Scooby-Doo, it was revealed by the actor known for his role as Steve Raglan in the horror movie that the sequel’s filming will commence in October.
Previously, Jim Orr, President of Universal’s Domestic Theatrical Distribution, declared the comeback of the horror genre during the studio’s CinemaCon event held in April. Later on, he confirmed that the return would occur in the year 2025.
Featuring actor Josh Hutcherson from “The Hunger Games,” this initial supernatural movie centers around a hapless security guard who stumbles upon a lethal secret while patrolling an abandoned pizza parlor after hours.
The movie featured Elizabeth Lail from “You”, Mary Stuart Masterson known for her work in “NCIS”, and fresh face Piper Rubio.
In the United States, the game “Five Nights at Freddy’s” had a remarkable start with a $78 million opening, positioning it as the third largest horror movie launch ever. This is surpassed only by the two versions of “It,” as well as the initial US box office debut of Blumhouse’s “Halloween” in 2018.
Over the weekend, I was part of something extraordinary – the global debut of Blumhouse’s latest flick that raked in an astounding $130 million! Not only did it become Blumhouse’s record-breaking opening worldwide, but it also surpassed all other horror movie debuts in 2023. Even The Nun II, which I heard was quite a hit, couldn’t outshine our box office earnings. In total, the film managed to gather over $290 million at cinemas around the globe! What an unforgettable experience it has been!
During a chat with Variety, Hutcherson shared some recent news about the upcoming sequel. He mentioned that they are currently working on finalizing the storyline, and they aim to start production as quickly as they can.
It’s clear that the fans are incredibly dedicated and passionate. Being a part of this was simply incredible and awe-inspiring for me. We hoped it would resonate with viewers, but I don’t believe anyone, not even us, anticipated just how deeply it would connect as it did.
He continued: “I’m dying to get back on set. Emma Tammi, our director, was fantastic, and it was such a fun world to play in. I’m excited to see what they are doing next.”
Five Nights at Freddy’s is available to buy and rent on digital platforms right now.
