As a seasoned fan with over two decades of immersion in the mesmerizing world of Westeros, I am beyond thrilled to witness the birth of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”. With my heart still pulsating from the breathtaking spectacle that was “Game of Thrones”, I eagerly anticipate this tantalizing foray into a bygone era.
A sneak peek from the upcoming “Game of Thrones” spin-off prequel titled “The Hedge Knight: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” has been released.
The upcoming lineup of Max features Peter Claffey (known for his roles in “Bad Sisters” and “Vikings: Valhalla”) portraying the main character, Sir Duncan the Tall.
At exactly 1 minute and 10 seconds into the video you see now, the knight presents himself. The video further showcases Dexter Sol Ansell, known from Emmerdale, in his role as Duncan’s squire named Egg.

The ensemble is completed with Sam Spruell from “Fargo,” Finn Bennett from “True Detective,” Bertie Carvel from “The Crown,” Daniel Ings from “Sex Education,” and Tanzyn Crawford from “Tiny Beautiful Things” joining the lineup as Maekar Targaryen, Aerion Targaryen, Baelor Targaryen, Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Tanselle respectively.
According to George RR Martin’s “Dunk & Egg” novellas, this prequel series takes place a hundred years before the storyline of “Game of Thrones,” focusing on an unusual pair of protagonists: a gallant but green knight named Ser Duncan the Tall and his tiny squire, Aegon (also known as “Egg”).
In a time when the Targaryen dynasty is still ruling and the last dragon is still fresh in people’s minds, an extraordinary friendship unfolds amidst significant destinies, formidable enemies, and perilous adventures, promises this narrative.

Martin, one of the co-writers, hinted that the upcoming spin-off might be less extensive compared to another spinoff titled “House of the Dragon,” in contrast to “Game of Thrones.”
In his blog post, he mentioned that “The Hedge Knight” will be more concise than both “Game of Thrones” and “House of the Dragon“, with a distinctly different atmosphere… however, since it takes place in Westeros, no one can assume they’re completely safe.
In 2025, the television series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” will debut on HBO. Previous seasons of “Game of Thrones” (1-8) are accessible on DVD and Blu-ray. In the United States, you can catch “House of the Dragon” on HBO, while in the UK, it’s available on Sky Atlantic and NOW streaming service.
