Take the Black: Was the House of the Dragon season 2 finale a disappointment?

As a dedicated fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the intricate tapestry of Westeros since the days of Ned Stark and his noble family, I must say that the finale of House of the Dragon season 2 left me with a mixture of emotions. On one hand, the drama was as captivating as ever, filled with political machinations, power struggles, and shocking twists that kept me on the edge of my seat. On the other hand, I found myself scratching my head at certain plot points, particularly the Alicent-Rhaenyra reunion which felt more like a chess move than a heartfelt reconciliation.

Greetings! You’re invited to the final episode of season 2 of “House of the Dragon”. Over the last few months, we’ve been diving into recaps and reviews, and now it’s time for our grand finale before we embark on a hiatus until season 3. Without further ado, let’s dive right into this new episode!

We have nice mix of panelists for this episode, including those who have read the source material — George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood — and those who haven’t; panelist Cody Schultz hasn’t even seen Game of Thrones before but is way into House of the Dragon. What did book-readers think of the twists and turns in the finale? What did non-book-readers? It’s all here.

Generally speaking, we encountered numerous issues throughout the episode, particularly with key moments such as Alicent and Rhaenyra’s reunion at the end. However, opinions may differ. What we found disappointing was that the episode concluded with several unresolved plot points, after a significant portion of the season seemed focused on setting things up. With two more years until the next installment, it feels like we’re being left hanging on these cliffhangers instead of getting to the exciting parts! Come on, show!

Hey there fellow gamer! I just finished that latest episode, and while I dug deep into the details and found a bunch of stuff I really enjoyed, it seems like it’s going to spark some heated discussions among gamers. Curious to know what your thoughts are on it? What did you think about it?
