Hugh Jackman reveals heartwarming on-set tradition following the success of his latest movie Deadpool & Wolverine

As a die-hard fan of Hugh Jackman, I can wholeheartedly say that he is not just an exceptional actor, but also a truly genuine human being. His latest Instagram post, where he shared a heartwarming throwback video about his on-set tradition for film crews, has only solidified my admiration for him even more. It’s rare to see such a successful star take the time to appreciate and acknowledge those who work tirelessly behind the scenes, but Hugh is not your average Hollywood celebrity.

He’s known as one of the most down to earth stars in Hollywood.

Also, Australian icon Hugh Jackman, aged 55, recently posted an old video which is sure to bring a smile to countless admirers worldwide.

On a Wednesday post on his social media, Hugh honored the teams from film productions he’s collaborated with, labeling them as the “hidden champions” or “quiet heroes” of cinematic artistry.

Hugh marked their accomplishments by unveiling an unusual film set custom, a practice the Wolverine actor claimed he initiated years ago.

Hugh said that when he is making a film he would share out ‘no draw’ lottery cards.

Every week, I eagerly anticipate receiving my ‘scratchie’ card as a valued team member. On Fridays, these cards are distributed among us. To participate, I simply need to uncover the hidden symbols by gently scratching off the plastic layer on my card. The thrill of potentially revealing prize-winning symbols never fades!

In Australia, you can buy lottery tickets known as ‘Scratchies’, which range from just a dollar upwards. These tickets have the potential to award a fortunate individual up to $10,000 in prize money.

Hugh shared a clip showing him using a scratch card during the filming of his recent blockbuster, Deadpool & Wolverine, which proved to be a massive success at the box office.

With a thick bathrobe concealing his well-known Wolverine attire, Hugh is spotted securing a $5 victory from a gaming card.

‘Fiver! I’m taking it,’ he said in the clip.

Hugh also used the post to thank all the film crew members he has worked with over the years.

‘I can’t remember the exact reason why I started giving out Scratchy’s on Fridays.’

As someone who has spent a significant amount of time navigating through high school hallways and film sets, I can say with certainty that there have been moments when my actions were driven by a desire to fit in with the popular crowd or to show appreciation for the hardworking individuals behind the scenes. It’s only human nature to want to be liked and respected by others, but it’s important to remember to balance that need with the genuine recognition of the efforts made by those who often go unnoticed. So, while I may have at times acted out of a desire for acceptance or acknowledgment, I strive now to make an effort to genuinely connect with both groups and give credit where it’s due.

As a lifelong film enthusiast who has spent countless hours watching movies and documentaries about the behind-the-scenes process, I can confidently say that the unsung heroes of filmmaking are the individuals whose names roll during the credits. Their tireless work, often done off-camera, is crucial to the success of any production. The dedication and passion they bring to their roles, whether it’s lighting a scene or editing footage, truly inspires me.

Fans praised Hugh’s long-standing practice profusely, with one remarking: “You clearly stand out as the cream of the crop. You are indeed a true gentleman.”

‘This is why you’re a legend, you treat everyone with great respect,’ added another follower.

Another impressed fan said: ‘So many actors, singers, sportsman …are called ‘stars’. They often are not, because they treat us ‘normal’ people as sh**. But YOU, you ARE a real star and you show [that] anytime anywhere how to be the real deal.’

It comes after Hugh recently broke down in tears as he celebrated his latest box office hit.

The star of stage and screen wept in his car when he learned that his new film, Deadpool & Wolverine, has become the number one movie in the world.

On Monday, Hugh was seen reading news on his phone in a shared Twitter video. He initially chuckled softly, then expressed surprise with an exclamation, “Oh my goodness!”

As I absorbed the heartwarming truth, tears of joy welled up and trickled down my cheeks. Swiping them aside, I let out a contented sigh, feeling deeply fulfilled.

In an excited burst, I couldn’t help but share on my Instagram that Wolverine and Deadpool have taken over the global box office! A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible!

He posted the caption alongside a graphic of his character, Wolverine, laying on a couch looking at a framed image that read, ‘Number one movie in the world’.

In their first weekend in Australian theaters, Deadpool and Wolverine earned AUD 10 million domestically, setting a new record for the highest-grossing R-rated (U.S.) opening weekend ever. Globally, they brought in an astounding USD 668.45 million, surpassing all industry predictions by a wide margin.

The upcoming action-comedy film, starring Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine, makes it their third appearance together and marks the tenth time Hugh appears as Wolverine in a movie.

Initially, he portrayed Wolverine in the 2000 film “X-Men,” and ever since then, you can find him in numerous sequels and offshoots.

Last month, news emerged that Hugh has been seeking comfort in his adult children, Oscar (age 23) and Ava (age 18), after parting ways with his wife Deborra-Lee Furness the previous year.
