The Archival JJJJound x New Balance 740N “Beige” Receives an Official Release Date

The JJJJound x New Balance 740N sneaker will release on July 30th. It’s a beige colorway, and will be available directly from JJJJound. Pricing details (MSRP) and the specific SKU are yet to be announced.

New Balance has partnered with JJJJound to revisit the 740N, a classic shoe from their archives. The Montreal-based design studio has updated this early-2000s model, blending its original style with a more modern, streamlined look to create a unique and visually striking running shoe.

This shoe features a lightweight mesh upper combined with synthetic overlays for a modern, streamlined look – avoiding heavy stitching. Soft nubuck and durable rubber add texture to the breathable base. The interior is lined with comfortable navy mesh extending to the footbed. A contrasting off-white tongue with red, navy, and black details adds visual interest. Finishing touches include off-white laces, JJJJound 740 branding on the sides, an off-white midsole, and a grippy black rubber outsole.

JJJJound’s signature style is most apparent in the shoe’s color scheme. They’ve used their trademark earthy tones – warm beiges and taupe – as a base, similar to previous New Balance collaborations. Dark navy and deep red accents add a subtle contrast, inspired by vintage New Balance suede shoes. The overall look is understated and focuses on the quality of materials and the shoe’s updated shape rather than bold colors.

The 740N isn’t just a re-release of an old shoe; it’s a modern take on a classic, focusing on innovative design and construction. Its mesh upper, seamless design, and subtle color blocking emphasize how it’s built, continuing the unique visual style JJJJound has created with their New Balance collaborations. It highlights the shoe’s form and structure.

The JJJJound x New Balance 740N launches Thursday, July 30 at 9 a.m. EST.
