Jay Blades, the host of The Repair Shop, has announced that he will be leading a new Channel 5 show in which he delves into the intriguing past of a country house.
I’m absolutely thrilled to share that I’ve been given the opportunity to host yet another fascinating factual series: Jay Blades – A Country House Through Time! In this new adventure, I get to delve into the rich history of various stunning stately homes. Can’t wait to uncover their secrets and stories with all of you!
Over a four-part sequence, Jay will follow in the footsteps of the Bridgeman family and their staff, beginning with the Georgian period and continuing through the Victorian and Edwardian eras, all the way into the 20th century.
In an interview with The Express, he shared, “I’ve always been captivated by history and people’s tales. With this show, I could indulge in my passion for history and listen to firsthand accounts from Weston Park. It was a unique experience.”
He mentioned: “I had the fortune of trying out various household roles, even serving as a driver. Filming these experiences was enjoyable for me, and I’m eager to showcase them to Channel 5 audience.”
Dan Baldwin, executive producer and husband of Dancing On Ice host Holly Willoughby, likewise commended Jay’s active participation.

After the announcement that Jay will be hosting “West End Through Time,” a two-part show on Channel 5 where he delves into the history of the West End, comes next.
In the show, Jay explores the history of the city through conversations with historians and local cab drivers, gaining insights into its development.
In the initial episode, Jay starts his journey in a classic London taxi, making his way to Trafalgar Square. Later, he hops out and proceeds to St Martin-in-the-Fields Church, uncovering an intriguing historical secret during his visit.
In the 17th century, the West End started coming to life, and our presenter delves into the tale of Henry Jermyn during this era.
In the aftermath of his successful 2023 series, Jay Blades revisited the past by exploring the history of places significant to him in his childhood, titled “Jay Blades: East End Through Time.”

Previously, his wife Lisa, at 43 years old, ended their 18-month marriage in May. She expressed that their relationship had been deteriorating rapidly, leaving her no choice but to pack a few belongings and leave.
According to recent news, the online fitness instructor was reportedly planning a hastily arranged divorce. However, it seems her students are going out of their way to provide assistance and encouragement during this trying time.

Amongst rumors that Jay allegedly damaged BBC property, a reliable insider tells TopMob that the broadcaster is being granted time off to gather himself mentally.
An insider revealed: “Jay holds a cherished position among The Repair Shop’s team. Their bond is incredibly strong, resembling that of a family.”

Lately, he’s faced tremendous challenges in his personal life. His uncle’s issues have caused him great hardship, and now he must work through the complications of a failing marriage.
The BBC anticipate that Jay will eventually rejoin them, but they won’t pressure or hasten his return unless he feels prepared. They will provide him with the time and room he needs to resolve any issues and regain focus.
Recent reports indicated that the Christmas episode of The Repair Shop might be at risk because Jay wouldn’t be present.
