Netflix is expanding its catalog of games with over 80 titles
As a long-time Netflix subscriber and avid mobile gamer, I’m thrilled to hear that the streaming giant is expanding its mobile game catalog with over 80 new titles. Having followed their gaming efforts closely since their foray into this space, I’ve seen firsthand how they’ve been refining their approach based on user feedback and market trends.
Netflix is adding more than 80 new mobile games to its expanding collection, with a new game being released every month, beginning in July.
At a recent earnings call on July 18, Netflix’s Co-CEO, President, and Director Gregory K. Peters shared that Netflix has introduced over 100 games up to now. Through this experience, they’ve identified what succeeds and what doesn’t. They are currently fine-tuning their approach to focus more on the successful 80-plus games in development.
Following Peters’ explanation, these new titles from Netflix can be described as “interactive storytelling games,” inspired by popular IPs such as “Emily in Paris” and “Selling Sunset.” Labeled as “Netflix Stories,” these games will have their dedicated section on the Netflix app. Their main role is to attract viewers’ interest towards the other unique content offered by Netflix.
If you’re not particularly drawn to “Perfect Match: The Game” among Netflix’s new offerings, there’s plenty more where that came from. In addition to its exclusive titles, the Netflix app is home to an impressive collection of third-party games, all accessible for free to subscribers. Some notable options include “The Case of the Golden Idol,” “Krispee Street,” and “Spiritfarer.”
