Elijah Wood addresses return for new Lord of the Rings movie
As a huge fan of J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Rings” and Peter Jackson’s epic film trilogy, I cannot contain my excitement at the prospect of Elijah Wood potentially returning as Frodo Baggins in the upcoming film “Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.” His words at the Fantasia Film Festival for his latest film, “Bookworm,” left me hopeful and longing for a return to Middle-earth.

As a longtime fan of the beloved franchise, I’m thrilled to share my excitement about the upcoming film that was announced back in May. This new installment promises to explore untold storylines surrounding our beloved titular character. It’s an experience I can relate to, having followed this fictional universe through its ups and downs over the years.
Some fans are speculating that actors from Peter Jackson’s famous trilogy might appear in the upcoming movie, as the production has been tight-lipped about the cast and storyline. Wood has neither confirmed nor denied this possibility.
He expressed his excitement on the red carpet at the Fantasia Film Festival for his new film “Bookworm”. Regarding a possible return to New Zealand to work again with those he cares about in that setting, he remarked, “It would feel like going back to a cherished world. Indeed, it would be an amazing experience.”
Apart from Wood, other stars from Jackson’s Middle-earth trilogy have hinted at potential returns. Most notably, Viggo Mortensen has suggested he might take up the mantle of Aragorn once more.
He replied, “I haven’t had a chance to find out the details of the story yet. But I did enjoy taking on that role and gained valuable experience from it.”
Based on my own experiences and current stage of life, I would only consider taking on a new challenge if I truly felt prepared and suited for it. Age plays a significant role in this decision-making process. In addition, aligning with the intended character is crucial for me to make a meaningful contribution. Engaging in something frivolously or without proper fit would not be wise.
Despite limited information about “The Hunt for Gollum,” Serkis expressed his enthusiasm for the endeavor in a statement: “I’m thrilled, precious. It’s time again to explore the unknown with my cherished friends, the brilliant and unmatched creators of Middle-earth, Peter, Fran, and Philippa.”
In the year 2026, “Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum” is set to be unveiled. On the other hand, the first season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” is currently available on Amazon Prime Video. Prepare for the second season’s premiere on August 29, 2022.
