Emmys snub: Outlander season 7 unsurprisingly was not nominated, and we're tired of it

As a dedicated fan of Outlander, I cannot help but feel frustrated and disappointed with yet another Emmy snub for this exceptional historical drama. Time and time again, the show’s rich storytelling, stunning production value, and outstanding acting have been overlooked by the Emmys. And it’s not just me feeling this way; countless fans and critics alike agree that Outlander is deserving of recognition.

Year after year, I’m dismayed that “Outlander” is overlooked by the Emmys despite its exceptional storyline, top-notch production value, and remarkable acting. The historical drama stands out among TV shows with its unique blend of history and romance, yet it continues to be ignored by the Emmy Awards. It’s unfair, as both the series and its talented actors deserve recognition. Sadly, even the 2024 Emmys failed to acknowledge this deserving production.

not all shows receive nominations because they don’t fall within the eligibility period. Previously, the Starz series missed this window for “Outlander” season 7 part 1. However, for the current awards cycle, the qualifying timeframe was from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 – and “Outlander” season 7 part 1 met these requirements.

Emmys snub: Outlander season 7 unsurprisingly was not nominated, and we're tired of it

As a longtime fan of Outlander, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment upon learning that the show wasn’t eligible for certain awards due to its unusual production schedule. You see, I’ve been following this historical drama since its inception and have eagerly anticipated each new season with bated breath.

At this stage, I’d be content with a nod in the Best Music or Best Production Design category for the show. The attention to detail behind the scenes is truly commendable. However, I firmly believe that “Outlander” merits recognition in the Best Drama Series category. Sam Heughan and Caitríona Balfe’s performances are noteworthy and warrant consideration for Best Actor and Actress in a Drama Series respectively. Unfortunately, as has been the case in previous years and other major award shows, “Outlande” has once again been overlooked.

I personally don’t enjoy awards shows much, but I can’t help feeling frustrated when deserving projects like “Outlander” get overlooked. It’s unfortunate, and I’m looking forward to the final eight episodes of season 7 premiering on Starz on November 22, 2024. The show has been renewed for a final eighth season, and there’s even a prequel series, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” in development. What are your thoughts on this Emmys snub? Do you share my sentiment?

The 2024 Emmy Awards air Sunday, Sept. 15, at 8/7c on ABC.
