Outlander cast was in tears filming eighth and final season
As a dedicated fan of Outlander since its inception, I can hardly contain my emotions as we approach the final chapters of this extraordinary journey. The impending end is bittersweet; we still have season 7b to look forward to, followed by season 8 – but the reality is, it won’t be enough.
The final chapter approaches for “Outlander.” Although we have yet to complete the second half of season 7 and look forward to season 8, which will be our concluding installment, the end draws near. It may still be over a year (or even longer) before we reach this finale, but it’s an inevitability that I don’t believe we’re fully prepared for.
As a devoted fan who has followed this story for a decade, I can only imagine the depth of emotion the final chapter will evoke when it unfolds on screen. According to an article on Express.co.uk, actor Richard Rankin (Roger Wakefield) hinted at tears and intense feelings. This comes as no surprise to me, given the rich history and connections that have been woven throughout this series over the last ten years. I’m sure there won’t be a dry eye in the room or in front of our TV screens when it all comes to an end.
Although the premiere date for the final season has not been announced, we can confirm that the second half of Season 7 will debut on November 22 with a total of eight episodes. In preparation, fans might want to stock up on tissues as the emotional rollercoaster is expected to begin in earnest come November.
Richard Rankin talks “very emotional read-through” of Outlander’s final season
As a dedicated gamer, I can only imagine the intense feelings Rankin experienced during that read-through. With old photographs scattered around, reminding him of every past season of the show, it must have felt like an emotional rollercoaster ride. Each image likely brought back a flood of memories and emotions, making for a deeply moving experience.
In Scotland, the eighth season of “Outlander” is now being filmed. Many familiar places from our early seasons, such as Castle Leoch and Lallybroch, are being featured again. Lately, filming has focused on Castle Leoch, bringing back fond memories from before.
While conversing with the Square Mile crowd, Rankin expressed, “The sense of nostalgia and its significance was palpable. Many tears were shed during that meeting.”
The final season is certain to bring on tears, but don’t forget about Season 7, Part 2 which is approaching soon. As Rankin expressed, “The second part of Season 7 is truly some of the finest material we’ve produced for Outlander. It offers an amazing journey for Roger, as we seldom see him apart from [his wife] Brianna – they’ve always been a team.”
I’m personally thrilled that Brianna (Sophie Skelton) and Roger are not only physically apart but also separated by time. As a pair, they’ve always been a compelling element of the story. This separation promises intriguing plot developments, and I can hardly contain my excitement for what lies ahead. With Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and Ian (John Hunter Bell) all in Scotland, the possibilities are endless. What on earth will transpire?
On November 22, don’t miss out as we continue with Season 7, part 2, marking the start of our march toward the finale. Furthermore, an intriguing prequel series awaits us in the future.
