Euphoria composer Labrinth blasts show and quits weeks before Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney return in Season 3

Labrinth, the musician who won an Emmy for his work on the popular HBO show Euphoria, recently launched a strong criticism online, calling out issues with both the show and the entertainment industry as a whole.

The 37-year-old British composer and recording artist announced late Thursday that he was leaving the music industry and specifically expressed his anger towards his record label, Columbia.

He didn’t hold back, even criticizing the popular drama ‘Euphoria,’ starring Zendaya. He bluntly stated, ‘I’m done with ‘Euphoria.’ Thank you and good night,’ before ending his comments.

Labrinth, a four-time Emmy nominee known for his music on the show Euphoria, won an Emmy in 2020 for his song “All for Us,” which played during the impactful season one finale.

The composer, who has been nominated for a Grammy Award, has created the show’s memorable music since it began.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Labrinth and HBO for comment on the shocking post.

Natasha Lyonne responded to Labrinth’s emotional post with a heart emoji, and many other musicians quickly shared their support as well.

Skylar Grey urged him, ‘Please don’t stop making music the world needs you.’

Stefflon Don also praised the artist, saying their skill and artistry are incredibly impressive.

Last summer, HBO announced that Hans Zimmer would be collaborating with Labrinth to create the music for the highly anticipated third season.

Labrinth shared his excitement about working on the latest season of Euphoria, calling it ‘another chapter’ in the show’s world. He expressed his admiration for Hans Zimmer, a composer he’s long looked up to, and said he hoped to add something special to the new music. He signed off with a simple ‘Love x’.

The musician was in Paris earlier this week for the Balenciaga Winter 2026 fashion show, where Sam Levinson, the creator of Euphoria, gave a sneak peek at what’s coming in the next season.

The next season of Euphoria, consisting of eight episodes, will jump forward in time, showing the characters after high school, and is planned to be the show’s final season.

Zendaya is back as Rue Bennett, and she’s joined by the returning cast including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Dominic Fike, and Maude Apatow.

I’m so excited about the upcoming season! We’re welcoming back the incredibly talented Colman Domingo as a guest star. Plus, some fantastic actors are stepping into bigger roles – Martha Kelly and Chloe Cherry are now series regulars, which is wonderful news. And we’re adding some amazing new energy with Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, Kadeem Hardison, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Toby Wallace joining the cast. It’s going to be a phenomenal season!

Labrinth shared an emotional post a few weeks after it was revealed that Eric Dane had finished filming his scenes for the third season before sadly passing away at age 53 on February 19th.

The actor announced in April 2025 that he was fighting ALS, but said he still intended to come back to the popular HBO series, which has won Emmy Awards.

As promised, Dane completed filming his scenes as Cal Jacobs, the complex father of Nate (played by Elordi), even though his character wasn’t featured in the trailer released in January.

Levinson expressed deep sadness about the passing of his friend, Eric. He described working with Eric as a privilege and cherished their friendship. He shared his condolences with Eric’s family and wished his memory would be a source of comfort.

HBO expressed deep sadness upon hearing of Eric Dane’s death. They acknowledged his exceptional talent and expressed gratitude for his work on three seasons of Euphoria, offering condolences to his family and friends.

As a huge fan of the show, I was so excited when Dane DeHaan mentioned in a Variety interview, shortly after the season two finale in February 2022, that his character, Cal, was headed for a real turning point. He basically said he couldn’t see Cal thriving in prison, and it was difficult for the writers to include him in the story while he was locked up. It definitely felt like they were setting things up for Cal to get a chance at making things right!

Details about the third season are mostly being kept secret, but the new trailer gives fans a first exciting look at what’s coming when the show returns to HBO on April 12th.
