80s Brat Pack icon baffles fans with unrecognizable look at 66 on rare outing

A popular actor from the 1980s surprised people with his appearance while out in Los Angeles on Monday.

Now 66 years old, the actor looks quite different from his peak years when he was part of the famous Brat Pack – a group that included Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy.

These young actors rose to fame starring in iconic 1980s coming-of-age movies such as The Breakfast Club and St. Elmo’s Fire, films largely defined by one particular actor.

Okay, so I just spotted this former teen idol out and about, and his look was…unexpected, to say the least! He was rocking a classic black overcoat paired with camo pants – a bold combo! But it didn’t stop there. He finished the outfit with a vintage motorcycle helmet and a backpack. Definitely not what you’d expect, but kind of cool in a rebellious way.

Fans were particularly surprised by his long, gray beard and unkempt facial hair, wondering if this was the same actor who once played the neat and polished boss of Brooke Shields on Suddenly Susan.

Born on November 28, 1959, in Portland, Maine, Rob Nelson first gained attention in Hollywood with the 1984 film Making the Grade. However, he became widely known for playing the rebellious John Bender in The Breakfast Club.

There’s been a longstanding story that Judd Nelson nearly lost his role in The Breakfast Club because he took his method acting very seriously.

He reportedly committed to playing the rebellious character Bender so fully that he remained in character off-camera, which frustrated director John Hughes.

In fact, Hughes was said to have considered letting Nelson go due to his behavior on set. 

The rest of the actors, having become close friends while filming, supposedly supported Nelson and asked Hughes to let him stay in the movie.

In the end, Hughes chose to stick with the actor despite the controversy, and his performance as John Bender became one of his most memorable roles.

After achieving initial success, Rob Lowe became a prominent figure in 1980s pop culture with notable performances in films like St. Elmo’s Fire (1985), where he played the appealing but troubled character Alec, and Blue City (1986), cementing his status as a leading actor of the decade.

He also voiced the character Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime in The Transformers: The Movie (1986).

Looking back at Wesley Snipes’ career, it’s amazing to see how he really blossomed in the late ’80s and early ’90s. He wasn’t just about being a romantic lead anymore! He proved he had serious range with roles like the hard-edged detective in ‘New Jack City’ back in ’91, and then completely surprised everyone with his comedic timing in ‘Airheads’ a few years later. He’s been linked to several women in the entertainment world, including a brief engagement to actress Shannen Doherty in 1993, and relationships with talent manager Loree Rodkin and model Kelly Stafford.
